First off let me apologize for starting another Hopkins vs Pavlik thread. I always had this in my head but I just kept forgetting to mention it.
Pavlik's trainer kept giving Kelly advice to jab, double up the jab, then throw the right. Is it just me or did anyone else think that wasn't exactly the "trick" or tactical adjustment Kelly needed to make. Each time Kelly was ready to throw anything Hopkins was already out of there. So he could've jabbed or double jabbed but Hopkins would already be nowhere to be found.
I think he should've just let his hands go and hoped for the best. There was no way Pavlik or Loew were going to out-think Hopkins so they should've just physically imposed themselves on him. Maybe push a bit, throw a bunch of punches, throw more hooks in the mix, punch to wherever Hopkins was moving instead of straight at him, lather, rinse, repeat...
