In other words, you want to torque your core in to your shots, not throw your arm or your body in to it, its the torque from your hip traveling to your shoulder that creates power.
Not big muscles in your arm, their helpful, but thats not really where your power is coming from, big biceps are more to impress chicks

Again I think it comes down to somebody not understanding a visualiztion technique, they allways used to tell us to aim 3 inches past the point of impact to get us to drive through our punches

I see ,then what about the Right cross crossing the centre line as this would suggest that it dosent or does it depend on the trainer?Or like i mentioned before is this the difference between straight right and right cross?

Actually the difference is the loop in the shot thats designed to get over a guard that takes it from being a straight right, and a cross.
Its one of the harder shots to learn,I generally use a technique where I get my fighters to slip to the right before they throw it at first, I dont know why but they seem to understand the shot better that way,I assume its the fluidity of the motion doing it that way, then I can just get them throwing the shot from their base position after theyve had some practice at it and start to understand the body motion better.

See this is sort of what Im saying, actually planning it to land across the line is waisting the shot,it probably skiffs off, your trying to vizualise throwing the shot to that point, and assuming theres going to be a point of impact before it gets there

Just concern yourself with throwing the punch properly and it'll be covered. Remember your cheek is tucked into your shoulder when you punch straight, and also that you pull your opposite shoulder back.
If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.

A left jab should be a straight shot, the right cross while it should be driven to the same spot,it should have a head in the way so it never gets there.
And if you can move your opponent that much with your cross, please call me. I think I can work with you

this is exactly why hitting an opponent feels so much more natural than hitting a bag or mitts. the softer flesh of the human torso notwithstanding of course.
