Thread: Well Done Joe Calzaghe

I finished a 12 hour shift at 19:00hrs and got home for around 19:15hrs. Turned the telly over to ITV4 to watch Witters and Danny Williams (Wife was not that chuffed..lol). Witters did the business and looked strong and classy against a limited opponent. Finally Williams got into the ring and looked awful and finally got knocked out....I had some money on the other guy so I wasn't to upset has I thought it was a bad move fighting the Pole. After this I turned over to Setanta and watched the build up to the Calzaghe v Jones Jr fight. Watched the Augustus fight and again he lost a disputed decision and it was written all over his face that he was again not given the verdict. Watched Judah struggling against a limited opponent but had to deal with a bad cut which in my opinion the referre should have stopped the fight. Finally the main attraction....I had no butterflies until Jones landed the punch which knocked down Calzaghe. This wasn't a flash knock down and for a split second I thought Joe wasn't going to get up. Thankfully Joe recovered and saw out the round. Thank god Joe never looked back after that brief encountered and won every single round after.

I am now back in work for another 12 hours...I am tired has hell but it was all worth it watchig some great boxing....it has been a great year of boxing and can't wait for the next big fight.

Superb win for Joe and full credit to Roy Jones who put up a strong challenge. Exciting fight for most parts and I enjoyed all the showboating by both fighters. Though Roy packed it in once Joe was out doing him.

Exciting fight and I hope they both bow out after that one.
