Default One thing i don't like about some boxers...

Cotto done this, and now manny has and it does piss me off.

When ever they are pressed with a question about fighting a certain fighter they avoid it by saying something stupid like i'm just a fighting i leave that up to so and so...

Man it's time some of these guys spoke up and said who they would want to fight. They don't have to slag a guy off, but it would be nice for them to speak up and call someone out, or if someone has spoke about fighitng them, answer it, don't brush it off for the manager or whomever to handle.

Nearly EVERYONE does this. I don't think its a big deal for guys like Pac who are on the top of the sport. If you are at the top, why would you call guys out? And maybe its best to keep quiet about fights until they are signed, so as not to disappoint fans if the deal falls through.

I agree though, I would like to see guys actually COMMENT on proposed matchups when asked about them.

Also if they make there intentions clear about who they want to fight next, it may affect their bargaining power.

When negotiating his next fight, it will be helpful for pac-man's next opponent to believe that Pac-man has many different opponents, so that the opponent he really wants to fight is willing to accept less, in the belief that he will not get to the fight if he demand to much.

It's just that it isn't Pac's personality to say something about his next fights and it is true that he actually leaves everything to his promoter...It's because he doesn't really think about it... Believe me, I'm a Filipino, even on Pac's early career, I didn't hear him calling off fights and even interviews here on Phil, TV guestings, ETC... Pac always says that he leaves everything to his promoter and he will fight everyone who will be served on his table... He just always says that he's always ready for everyone...

I kinda with Preme on this, i don't buy it when they say they don't think about future opponents, as if PAC doesn't have big money bouts against guys like Hatton or PBF on his mind.

But, they want to project some kind of image I guess.

I guess, if you have nothing nice to say.... Say it anyway!
....rain on the parade won't dampen the greatness of last night's victory.

If they go spouting off it may put their Handlers/managment in a corner to an extent.Play your cards close so to speak but I agree it is refreshing when the fighter lets his intentions be known....One reason we may miss a James toney when he is gone, that man can call out an entire neighborhood when he has a microphone

    1. Pac is on the top of the boxing world, why would he be the one calling others out?

    2. pac is a POLITICIAN PRACTITIONER. he practices firm answers with little answer.

    3. Pac has called fighters out but it was when he was on his way up, he was ambitious enough to want marco, jmm, eric all in one year and this year. 130,135, 147! But again he practices firm answers and would make statements like, anytime anywhere if ask if he'll fight so and so. thats how pac is PERIOD.

    4. pac still has a hard time with english but even in tagalog he says the same things. he'll fight anyone anywhere anytime.

Pacquaio wants HAtton and he has said this somewhere. He doesn't need to announce it after his victory coz it might be construed as an unnecessary gloating.

You will see all of Arum's fighters say the same thing. They are simply told to leave the promoting up to him. To call out a fighter, gives a potential opponent a bargaining tool thinking that you need them.

Bob runs a tight ship and is very shrewd. Did you see how tightly he was keeping to Manny in the ring after the fight? He was keeping the Golden Boy people from handing Manny any kind of business card!hehe

    Cotto
    Margarito
    Pavlik
    Pacquiao

All of them and many more under the Top Rank banner all say the same line.

Yeah this does really annoy me,

It goes with the whole " boxers of today have no personality"

It is fun to see other boxers call each other out, it builds anticipation to a fight like now Haye Calling out Klitckohos now.

That goes with the part of this sport I can not seem to get through the heads of you guys here....

    BOXING IS A BUSINESS!!!!!!!

By calling pout certain people or saying they want to fight a certain person in specific can cause promo problems for other bouts.....They are usually right They don't decide on who they fight the promoter does...

It is the promoters job to make the matches and maximize the potential for earnings........

I won't get into the whole thing because I found I am wasting my time here when doing so....Until anyone nhere has ever been involved in fight promotion, managing a fighter who is on a world class level or in a contender situation you can not understand....

Easy to criticize something we know nothing about...Has nothing to do with them not wanting to say who they want to fight.....

And if they did mention who they wanted to fight and the fight did not come off as their next bout you guys would be talking shit one way or another about it not happeneing or the other guy was scared or the guy just said that to look good.....

Take the time to do some research once in a while and really understand the sport beyond what happens in the ring

The thing is, Daxx, that even if people understand why, it does not mean they are not entitled to wish for something different.

I agree with the people saying that people on top of the sport does not need to call people out. However, I also agree with those saying that they like it when certain fighters call others out (like Haye and Klitshcko).

Now, I dont care whether that is a legitimate business strategy, I still like it, and wouldnt mind if other fighters did it more.

Sure it would be great if fighters all said who they would like to fight and what they would like to see happen in the future...

Like I said though problem is People seem to not understand the difference between "Like to face" and it meaning that the fight must be signed next or something is wrong.....

The media is the biggest culprit in twisting it around....
