Default Pacquiao - Hatton Tentatively Scheduled for May 2

Pacquiao vs. Hatton Tentative For May 2 in Las Vegas - Boxing News

I'm glad the fight is happening, and especially on Cinco De Mayo weekend. Way to stick it to ODLH twice Manny. I've got Manny UD 12. What say you?

I think it's good for boxing that PAC is taking over those "Cinco de Mayo" weekend dates. At least we're assured of exciting fight during this important date...

    BTW, PAC via TKO...

Good. Its a fight that needs to happen.

Its a long time though, and Ricky is bound to double in body weight before he gets anywhere near a training camp. His ballooning is just annoying. He's going to be retired in about 2 years max, so Ive no idea why he cannot just stay in relatively decent shape between fights. Pac is no Urango, Maussa or Lazcano. He certainly needs to be a lot more ready than those fights.

I really think Hatton can beat Manny. But it is a fight that scares me a little.

I totally agree with you; if he was almost constantly at fighting weight [or thereabouts] I think he would up his game considerably; I mean, more time in the gym has to be productive, right? As for the training camp, Hatton trained for longer than usual prior to his fight with Malignaggi, didn't he? I think he'll need to train even longer and harder if he wants to beat Pac, and keep working with Mayweather to improve his defence. Having said that, I don't think Hatton will turn up weighing less than expected [a la de la hoya] and I do think Hatton will use the extra weight and his natural advantage in size and strength to batter Pac for the duration of the fight. However, if Pac performs like he did against DLH he'll probably land a lot of punches [hence why it's so important for Hatton to work on his defence with Mayweather] and so I fear Hatton will have to get the stoppage or face the likelihood Pac will out-point him. However, if Hatton brings his 'A' game and polishes up those defences I can really see him knocking Pac out.

Hatton cannot outwork Pac, thats for sure. So it needs to see an improved defence and some really telling meaningful blows from Ricky. And conditioning to fight HARD for 12 rounds. Hatton fought well against Paulie but at no stage did he fight HARD. And Pac throws back hard with two hands and often.

Hatton might be a little more focussed than in the past but he was still a fat bastard when the Malignaggi fight was signed.

He needs to show a LOT more to beat Manny. I think Hattons best is enough to do it. But we havent seen his best for a while. Paulie certainly wasnt enough to show us what Ricky has left.

He can do it, but this is such a risky fight.
