Default Anyone from Philadelphia - trip advice (or has anyone done the Rocky tour ??)

Going to be there for couple of days in January - four of us.

Want to run the Rocky stairs of course but also fancy seeing a few more locations from the film eg the market, the gym and pet storem the house from Rocky II and might go resturant from the last film. Oh yeah and will also pop and see the liberty bell

Anyway just wondering if anyone can advise on best way to get about etc.. - get the impression there could be miles between these locations !

Have also heard that some of the areas are pretty dodgy ??

Here's the link to the locations - cheers

That would be because there are miles between those locations.
    While in Philly
    Hit South Street
Get a Cheesestake from Ginos or Pats
    Get a Tastycake
Go to the sports complex for a game, while there, get a soft pretzel
The best potato chips on earth are made in PA
    Society Hill is pretty
Numerous historic graveyards near South Street
The market kinda sucks, warning you now
The Blue Horizon, you gotta at least visit the grand daddy of boxing arenas
Fraziers is still under renovation, but you can still hit Costello's

    Has to be done

Are any of those locations in a dodgy area Monkey ??

Websites are saying to stay out of North and South Philly ?? But I don't know where that is

The gym and apartment are musts for a photo opportunity I reckon

Nothing too bad,Front St can get a bit dodgy in spots.
Things to keep in mind when in Philly, most of Old City is set in a grid,if its got a number its north south,if its named east west, but one problem.Large sections of the city, werent originally part of the city, they just got sucked in to the city over time,so the grid completely changes, relatively randomly in the outlying areas. And another warning,if your driving yourself around, you will eventually get sucked on to the Schukyill Expressway,it will be congested as hell.It is allways congested as hell. Unfortunatly there is nothing you can do about the fact your going to end up using it. Philly drivers have tried all of their lives to avoid it,it isnt possible,so you go right back to using it.Oh yeah another one,if your walking around, avoid jaywalking,Septa bus drivers wouldnt stop to avoid hitting a grandmother holding two babies and a puppy on Christmas Eve

Thats Boathouse Row in Philly, winter in Philly, thats one of the sights. It brings back all kinds of little kid memories for me.
My mom's boyfriend when I was a kid, bought a Trimeran that was docked in Jersey,so we'd have to drive down there constantly to work on the thing(it was a wreck, the damned things name was Chooch for the love of god)so we'd drive past Boathouse Row to get down there all the time.
