    Default Peter targets Arreola!

Former WBC heavyweight champion Samuel “The Nigerian Nightmare” (Peter (30-2, 23 KOs) says he wants to punish Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola to silence a fighter he claims is “using his name to try and build himself up.” Peter says he’s offended by Arreola’s choice of nickname. “To Chris Arreola, I want to say that there is only one true Nightmare in the heavyweight division and that’s me, Samuel Peter “The Nigerian Nightmare!” Peter proposes a showdown between the two sluggers this year with an agreement that the loser must change his ring moniker.

“He says he’s the top contender, but he hasn’t done anything to prove that. He has to fight a top contender before he can claim he’s the best,” stated Peter. “I’ll show him and the fans how determined I am to win back my belt. And at the same time, I’ll prove who the real Nightmare is in boxing.”

Peter’s promoter, Dino Duva of Duva Boxing, claims he’s already reached out to Arreola’s promoter, Dan Goossen. “I’ve called Dan to discuss the possibility of them fighting each other and Dan told me he was hoping to get a Klitschko fight in the spring. Obviously if he can get that fight, all power to him and I wish him the best.

“But if he doesn’t get the Klitschko fight, I hope Dan will call me. This is the fight to establish the true top contender and one that people would want to see. Everything else is bullsh*t. Of course, if Arreola doesn’t have the balls to fight, Sam is willing to fight any heavyweight in the world including Kevin Johnson, David Haye or any other top name out there.”

If this fight actually happens I bet it will be exciting...two heavies slugging it out...But after the loss against Vitali Samuel might want a build up fight before stepping in the ring with Arreola...

This has snoozefest written all over it...we have had matchups that SEEM like perfect match ups and turned out to be horrible in the past this just seems too good to be true....or too good to actually live up to the hype people will create around it.

They should both focus on the WBA rankings and try and bring that sanctioning body back to earth

Agreed Sam will be looking to not get hurt after being beaten so badly by Vitaly and in his prior bout dropped 3 times by McCline...

Arreola will be worried about losing or chancing getting caught by Peter and being taken out of the run for a title shot...

I look for a lot of holding and a late TKO...It will be who ever gasses first who gets starched

It would really be something if it was just a slugging match. Maybe if they have a drinking contest before they go into the ring it'd make things entertaining. No nightmare clash or dream match here, but hopefully it'd be a fight worth watching.

After Sam Peter's last little non effort I have no use for the man.

He should quit the sport of boxing after that.

This is a good match-up for Arreola, how quickly people forget that Peter was ranked #2 right behind Wlad before getting his face realigned by Vitali.
Peter is still very much in the mix and with so much of the division being much older than him, he will be in the top 10 for at least the rest of 2009.
I think both guys will be looking to impress and since Arreola won't be jabbing to keep Peter off I full on expect a gnarly (yeah that's right I used the word gnarly) head butt.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Man, I'm amazed so many ppl are writing Peter off. The guy lost to inarguably the BEST 2 heavyweights in the division. The McCline bout isn't being taken in proper context in my opinion (that was McCline and some shadowy figure in an alley that fought Peter). The guy, when properly training, is dangerous and unlike Arreola has fought at the elite level in the division. Does anyone think Cris would fare any better against the Klitschkos much less be able to recuperate after a loss to one before eventually climbing back up to lose to the other?

Peter by KO. He hits harder than anyone Arreola has ever faced and has enough boxing ability to give the younger guy trouble.
    Oops
