    Default Cotto vs Berto????

Read on a couple of different websites that Berto wants to fight Cotto if Cotto gets through his fight with Jennings. What are you guys thoughts on this fight?

I think Berto has quick hands but I think Cotto would break him down as the fight goes on like he did in the Zab Judah fight and get the win.

I will get hate for this, but I think its a close fight. Cotto is an amazing fighter which great power, timing, and very good speed. Berto has amazing speed, he has really good boxing ability on the outside, and he has very good power as well. I think they are cut from a similar cloth, they do things different than eachother, but they have that same tough guy ability to respond to taking punches by throwing punches. They both have really good technique when they use it, and they are easy to hit when they don't. IMO the left hook lands most on Berto which is Cotto best punch, and the right uppercut has been the punch that has hurt Cotto in a few fights, and thats is Berto's best punch.

Too big of a jump...berto should continue his slow progression. Let the big dogs fight it out at the top, and cherry pic fights where he can gain more experience

IMO there isn't a step between Collazo and the top of the division. Collazo IMO is better than Judah, and just as good as Quitana if not better. Berto needs to swim or sink.

Now that Margarito is getting all this heat I think his fight with Cotto this summer is in jeopardy.

Either way, Cotto vs Berto would be a nice fight. I think Berto struggling with Collazo showed that he can compete with the names but may not be ready for the elite just yet. I think Cotto takes this fight and knocks Berto out but Berto will be making the fight interesting until that happens. His speed is enough to give any fighter problems but his experience will not carry him over the top.

Berto should take a couple more fights against people like Quintana, Judah, and maybe some Jr. Welterweights if they want to move up in weight before taking on the "BIG DOGS" of the division.

All depends how Cotto looks against Jennings, if its the Cotto of old than Berto should stay well away from now, but if Cotto is anything less than 90% of the fighter he was, than I think Berto takes him

This is bad for Berto.. he's young and could get a solid year or two of decent fights before he fights Cotto.. This will be close for a little while because of Berto's speed, but Cotto wins this possibly by KO.

Kinda hard to call this one without seeing how the Margarito lose affected Cotto or even if it did at all. But if Cotto is the same when he fought Tony then he kos berto especially if he sticks to the body.

IMO i think Berto should atleast take 1 or 2 more fights before taking on Cotto.

I think that Berto would win. I really like the look of him and I think it would be a close hard fought fight but I give the edge in power to Berto and also in speed so my vote goes with Berto.

I go for Berto as well, Obviously Cotto goes to the body so well, has excellent timing and power, but Berto is the better boxer on the outside, he is way faster, Cotto can be hurt by sharp punchers(thats why IMO Judah and Torres hurt him more with single punches than Mosley and Margarito), Berto can be very hard to hit when he wants to be, and Cotto is an easier target to hit especially with the uppercut because he keeps his head down.

HBO/Showtime/ESPN should keep their little pet project away from Cotto. It could get ugly.

Berto was on ESPN what once? I don't think he was on showtime, at least not in a big fight. I guess we will see who should have been kept away from who after the fight.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... Berto's the next hottest thing in boxing. Especially to a stateside boxing public hungry for the next PBF (alledgedly still retired), DLH (hopefully retired), or Pavlik (back to the drawing board). And while Berto's not bad... he's not in Cotto's class. No way, no how.

This would be a great fight, I'd lean towards Cotto, unless the controversy with Tony shows he was innocent, then I would favor Berto more because I think he has more power than Cotto and could knock him out. Of course if Tony did cheat than I give it to Cotto for he would haven shown an amazing chin going against bricks in the gloves.
