Default Choosing A Boxing Club for Competition

Ok im nearly finished cutting, im currently 87kg, so i got 4kg left before ill be in my optimal weight range. So now that im choosing a boxing club i've got a bit of a problem, im a full time university student and i'm not rich. I want to compete in amateur and then eventually become pro in time. I spoke to Kostya Tszyu's corner man/trainer, because he runs the Tszyu centre in sydney, see the thing is its around 15min away with no traffic, or about 25min-30min with traffic, it also costs around $65 a month (i have to pay 12 months up front, which comes to around $700 something lump sum). See the thing is, a big sector of their gym are professional and amatuer fighters, and they operate monday- saturday (saturday all pros and amatuers go for sand runs at the beach together for conditioning). Oh ye, and Tszyus corner man organises guys from other boxing gyms to come spar each week with boys from his gym.

Ok, now theres PCYC, its 10min away from me, its $50 a month (no contracts), and the pacific cruiserweight champ trains there, and I was told I would be training with him as my partner and practicing with him (hes my age), not to mention also be trained by a trainer that sets up a a lot of the fights. OK but the thing is, the gym is a piece of shit, theres a lot of guys who are newbies there, theres not that many amatuer fighters, the cruiserweight guy is the only pro fighter there. And they only operate monday-friday.

My problem is i dont know what to choose.

With the Tszyu gym the money and time is a big issue, yet it comes with a good gym and good trainers, and good environment.

With PCYC the lack of skill and availability of time across the week are an issue, yet its affordable, i get a pro boxer as my partner, and its only 10min away.

What do I do, honestly, im stuck

Well mate you will not best yourself having visited both gyms.

However, I'd never sacrifice the opportunity of training with a fleet of different styles, approaches and training styles for training with one reasonably succesful guy.

That does sound expensive to me, but here in Ireland nearly all our gyms are subsidised so its either €50 a year or €2 a night!

Is there any way you could get a trial?
