Default Cotto-Jennings Pavlik-Rubio Should Not Be PPV

Its ridiculous to me. Both guys coming off their 1st loss, should want to show all boxing fans that they are back and still a force. Kind of like Oscar wanted to do vs. Forbes. I know its not the fighters decision but its a bad business move for HBO imo and for the fans. Rubio and Jennings are not even close to household names and $44.95 is not worth paying just to see how Cotto and Pavlik were effected by their loses. That much money for a ppv merits a great, meaningful matchup. Big names vs. big names. Maybe im just cheap, but im tired of everything being ppv. I pay for HBO, that should be enough.

Yeah but the Duddy fight is on there so it will be worth it.

This is not an HBO PPV.

Both HBO and Showtime turned it down, so Bob Arum had no choice but to make it a private PPV, just like he does with the Latin Fury cards.

Here's an article regarding this issue.

Is it a HBO PPV, I thought it was just a Top Rank PPV on this one. Agree, its not really worth it as I think Pavlik will have too much for Rubio (who I think is a bit better than a live body) & in reality Cotto will probably give new meaning to the word beating against Jennings

Ah, well that explains why Matt Vanda is on there. He always seems to appear on those Latin Fury ppvs too.

LOL Duddy is complete crap. A top 20 middleweight at best, and I think that's being generous.

As a big Pavlik fan, who's been watching him come into his own for years, I'm very disappointed with the PPV broadcast! Think it's utter shite!
After the Abraham fight - if it is ever made - I think he should pursue getting a rematch with Hopkins, as he was completely schooled and didn't win one round in that fight. Looked like an amateur fighter showed up in place of Pavlik that night. And no, I'm not taking anything away from Hopkins that night. He put on an old-school, virtuosic performance.
Hopkins got screwed out of the Calzaghe decision, and the first Taylor decision, but the fight with Pavlik was SO dominant, that if the judges would have scored that fight for Pavlik, it should have jailed the judges and
    stripped their licences.

Pavlik was exposed and I expect him to have a hard time with Rubio, he is pretty one dimensional. He couldn't do shit against B-Hop. but kept doing the same shit over and over. Maybe that beating will get him to switch up his attack more.

Having a very hard time hitting this 'purchase' button today.Jenning may come in and make the most of this oppurtunity but honestly this is nothing more than a showcase event,re establishing Cotto back in the mix.

On the other hand,Rubio vs. Pavlik might.........Might.....turn out to be a nice go.Rubio not exactly an all star but will not go quietly, will look to box Pavlik, descent combos. But 44.95 for shite sake Sort of card that you look to undercard as big motivator.well, that did not help . Then again.....we had a nice triple bill last weekend on Regular HBO ,shame Mayorga fell off.

    I don't think it's worth $45

It's free over here if you have Setanta but we gotta stay up all fucking night so it's not all good.

    I'm staying up tonight.

I'm only staying up to cheer on Jennings v Cotto. That starts around 2AM UK time which isn't that bad. I can't be bothered watching Pavlik v Rubio though, that will start at like 4AM.

Then I wonder why he did not try to push it on regular television instead. Its amazing that HBO did not try for it, but they were willing to put Dawson vs Tarver II on...Go figure

I agree it shouldn't be ppv but i forked up the cash anyway because I'm big fan of both.

These are talented fighters that are very entertaining win or lose, so I don't mind paying to see them.

People were complaining when ODLH fought Forbes FOR FREE! And now Cotto & Pavlik facing two nobodies for $45 bucks?!

    Thanks Diane. Good info there.
