Default Old Roy " The Slapper"

Is it just me or does Old Roy always throw his left hooks in this slapping fashion. I use to like Roy but He lost my respect when he lost to Tarveeeeerrrrrrr!! He needed to avenge that loss to re-gain his status Imo.

He did beat Tarver the first timeand got caught the second.

When he fought Tarver the third time Roy could have beaten him had he stepped on the gas but Roy was gun shy and had lost a step at that point.

I never thought of Roy as a slapper. He just throws punches from all angles.

It is disheartening that Roy had to lose to a moron like Tarver.

Yeah, it is in fact a shame that Tarverrrrrrrr! beat Jones cause Tarver is a joke. What made it worse was the comment Tarver made to roy during the instructions; " You have any excuses tonight Roy? " Dam that was humiliating!!!

I re watched a couple of his non descript go's immediatly after the Hopkins fights lastnight.I think he turned the left over well but used it almost to postion some guys. Was way to comfortable/carefree and sometimes just basically got bored, thats his own fault btw.He literally carried Fermin Chirino...had him stunned, down and absolutly dominated but refused to go for the finish.Crowd booing, he said he was not getting payed enough to risk anything aginst these types?Really acted a prima dona at times. He did the same with Danny Garcia but totally selected his shots,he did not do alot in the 1st round but landed 3 sharp rights to the body and Garcia was hurt each time.Message sent.It was that early style of letting guys know very early on in a fight.....'hey son,you on a different level right here, just be happy your in my ring still'....that would set his tempo,Rambling here

No it is just you. Roy throws the left hook well.

Ask Montell Griffin how hard Roy's slap of a left hook is

Roy has always whacked with his wrist, he does not slap.

Roy does slaps. But he usually follows them up with power combos.

He sometimes throws a quick left hook without a ton of mustard on it, but it will set up other shots.. it's almost like a feint.. To have a thread "Old Roy "The Slapper"" is a joke though.. Guy has power in both hands; that is no secret.

I think that the general problem is just that he plays a more careful overall game, hence why he might look slappy sometimes but I wouldn't say his left hook is a slapper, I think it's all about the overall more careful style.

Roy lands his left hook beautifully, the only think is now I don't think he follows through as much as he used to on any of his punches, it seems like he doesn't try to punch through the target anymore, and just tries to hit the target.

Slapper? IMO the hardest hitting Middleweight of all time as well as the fastest. His punches are not what they were by a long shot anymore though.

    Slapper ,

Hows that final ko , if you listen it comes off something before it lands maybe catches his glove on the way up or his breast before it hits the chin.It goes "ba bang".

Its a leaping shot its loaded from his hip and his legs as he is crouched waiting for the time when griffith comes on his front foot so theres no escape, after it lands Roy is fully upright and controlling him.
