Cotto Officially Begins Training Camp For Clottey

WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto has officially begun his training camp for the unification bout with IBF champ Joshua Clottey, taking place on June 13 at New York's Madison Square Garden. There is a good chance that Cotto-Clottey will land on HBO's World Championship Boxing, and not their pay-per-view arm.
Phil Landman, a fitness expert from South Africa, has done wonders with Cotto in the past and is already part of the camp for the Clottey fight. Cotto is pleased with fighting in New York, on the eve of the Puerto Rican Day Parade, for the fourth time in his career.
"Phil Landman will be working with us for the next fight. It will be the fourth time that I will be fighting before the Puerto Rican Parade and it's has become something that I look forward to," said Cotto to Primera Hora .

I pick the tough defense minded Clottey over Cotto primarily on the basis of their respective performances against their common opponents in Margacheato and Judah...

Cotto quits against Margo in the 11th round while Clottey took Margo to a close UD loss...

Judah quits against Clottey in the 9th round while Cotto TKOs Judah in the 11th...

Clottey is also much bigger than Cotto...

I've got Cotto winning but I think it will be a gruelling fight!

I'm gonna go with Clottey, although that might be my heart ruling my head. I think it will be a close fight whoever takes it, and I would say Cotto might be the favourite should it go to the cards, but I've got a feeling Clottey might wear him down & take him out in the last two rounds.

How is Clottey much bigger than Cotto who used to come into the ring at light welterweight at 160 pounds before he moved up. ALso Judah was stopped because of a cut wasn't he? He was fighting competitively with Clottey.

No doubt Clottey has the better chin, but Cotto is faster, hits harder, better technically. I am not saying Cotto can't lose this fight, he looked hesistant and less than impressive in his last outing, but Clottey is definitely the underdog and for good reason. I see this being similar to Cotto against Lovemore Ndou or Abdullaev.

Clottey has a bigger frame and taller than Cotto... Clottey comes to a welter fight in the 170 lbs. range... You'll be surprise on fight night to see how small Cotto will be compared to Clottey...

Judah was looking for a way out from that fight... When the ring doctor asked him "how many fingers?", he answered "six"... j/k

IMO , obviously to me Cotto will win , by TKO , once Clottey feel Cottos body punches , it going to be a another story , it going be a great fight , i like Clottey he is a stronger boxer , he looks like as N`Duo physically , but is slow technically.................

Won't give Clottey the skills to win if he could gain 23+ lbs

he did not quit, give me a break, the ref stopped because of the cut, and Clottey was far from dominating, he won a Technical Decision and barely with scores of, Duane Ford 87-84, Glenn Trowbridge 86-85, George Hill 86-85, he's only 1 inch taller than Cotto and has a 3 inch reach advantage, but Clottey also has a very small waist which usually don't hold up that well against body shots, especially Cotto like left hooks to the body, i'd go so far to say that Cotto gave Judah his worst BEATING, Tszyu giving him the most brutal KO of his career, the fight should be a bit competitive, and Clottey does have a chance to win it, but i see Cotto winning a comfortable UD, 7 or 8 rounds to 5 or 4.

Mosley is NOT a common opponent of Clottey and Cotto... Mosley and Clottey has to fight yet...

I think Margo and Judah are the only common opponents of Clottey and Cotto...

He did quit & it shouldn't have been a TD as the cut was actually caused by a punch. Judah knew the fight was getting further away from him & looked for a way out. Cotto did give him a bad beating but he was doing a lot of dirty shit to do it (not that I minded, nice to see Judah get some of his own medicine).
