Thread: Cris Arreola he puts the HEAVY in heavyweight

Default Cris Arreola he puts the HEAVY in heavyweight

255 is a pound heavier than when he fought Travis Walker and told HBO "I need to be in better shape for my next fight"....271 isn't skinny for McCline either but he's always been bulky and he has the frame to pull it off without looking like James Toney.

I am liking McCline's chances a little better having seen the results of the weigh in.

This is bad for Arreola, maybe not for the outcome of the fight but publicity bad. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY wants the heavyweight champion of the world to be some lard ass, it just isn't good for business.

They should each be coming in 25 lbs lighter. Mccline doesnt look good either. These guys are the polar opposite of David Haye. Maybe they need a little more vanity?

Wladimir 6'6 and Vitali 6'8 always come into a fight under 250 pounds....how the FUCK does Arreola do it? What does his training camp consist of? McCline has always looked like that, he's only fought 2 times under 260 pounds....at least he usually comes to fight in good cardio shape, breathing through all his punches etc.

David Haye, Sultan Ibragimov, Ruslan Chagaev, and Evander Holyfield are the only heavyweights (outside the Klitschko's) that I can think of who are seemingly in consistent shape when they fight....that is hurting the division as much as anything else is.

I've been out of shape for a while but I wouldn't need any time to look better than those 2 PRO ATHLETES!!! That is just fucking sad....it shows a complete lack of respect for the sport.

If Arreola weighed in at 225 or maybe 230 he would be an absolute beast, his hands would be faster, he'd be able to throw more punches, he'd be quicker....but right now he looks like someone just grabbed him away from the fucking Golden Corral

If one the them lands a solid breast shot the other may start lactating.

Mccline knows he is nothing but a gate keeper and I think Arreola knows he is not world class either.

Neither has the mindset of a champion, so they come into fights looking like this.

Very true about the mindset...although I think McCline could give Arreola serious problems, that is of course if McCline has the fire in him to really test Arreola.

If Cris waits then McCline will wait with him, if Cris jumps on Jameel then we may see an upset.

I am not sold on Cris' defense or offense...he can punch pretty good but sooner or later he's going to have to be able to box and open up a tight defense on his opponent. McCline is a tough fighter, he was unlucky vs Valuev (whom I thought he could beat), he fought very tight vs Wladimir although I don't blame him, and he did well vs Sam Peter but he got tired trying to KO Sam instead of going for the decision...and two judges were WAAAAY off on their scorring 110-115 and 111-115...McCline did score 3 knockdowns in 2 rounds meaning he won at least 2 rounds and by more than just 1 point.

I am really hoping for McCline to pull off the upset

This might not be a popular opinion, but McCline when focused and on his game is far better than most heavyweight out there. He had all the tools to be a champion, but his sparring partner mentality has always been his downfall. I honestly ont even want Arreola to be the American hopeful because its pretty embarrasing imo, that this is the best we got. At least let it be a guy who does his work in the gym and comes to fight in shape.

Maybe if Chris gets iced he will realize he needs to get off his fat ass and lose some weight...Nothing like humility to motivate.

Arreola should weigh 235-240. He is taller and naturally bigger than Povetkin who weighs 230. At a certain point, the extra weight must slow him down. It isn't alarming because he has fought above 250 before and wasn't gassed. Maybe tonight McCline will take him the distance and we'll see whether the extra weight hurts Arreola.

You shouldn't single out Arreola. McCline weighed 271! That is ridiculous even if you are 6'6. And Sam Peter weighed 265 for his fight against Eddie Chambers - Sam Peter is 6'2!!! Eddie Chambers himself weighed 225 and is 6'1!

Lyle, if you have such intense hate for Arreola, how about a sig bet?

I seriously hope Mccline knocks the crap out of Arreola. He is not even a champion yet and he already has Bowe habits. But at least Bowe won the heavyweight championship before he let himself go. I think Chris Arreolla's 15 minutes are almost up because it seems the more money he makes the bigger his stomach is getting and it is a matter of time before it catches up to him.

I was really dissapointed to hear that Arreola weighed in at 255 last night. I thought for sure he was gong to be taking this fight seriously and he was going to shed some serious pounds. I guess not very very sad to see this.

Simultaneous KO anyone ??McCline used to draw oohs and awes with size but his chest over lapped his stomach then. Now its reversed.

Arreola.... I seriously want to believe he'll do well in progression but am realizing more so in every fight that he just dont give a f!!!k.He's all emotion, raw strength and frontal power living fight by fight and will sink or swim by KO.Exciting yes but will burn fast.Just not committed to a long term career.

Tell that to Sam Peter, David Tua, James Toney, Shannon Briggs and James Kirkland

Rantacrat, if you look at my second post, I give props to the hand full of heavyweight fighters who care enough about their careers to come to a fight in shape...I don't just dog on Arreola and the only reason I get on him is because he DOES have potential and he COULD be a champion but he's never in shape and when was the last time we had a great or even a good heavyweight champion who didn't get in good shape before his bouts Butterbean never won a heavyweight title...David Tua wasn't all that good as a title holder...even when Mike Tyson didn't train for a fight he at least looked like he was in shape, he didn't look like he just finished a pie eating contest.

Old George Foreman is I guess the only dude you could point out who didn't look like he was in great shape but he was 45 years old!!!! And hell he's still in better shape than most of the heavyweights out there considering his age....Holyfield is around 45 now and he's in GREAT shape, he always has been.

It's just disrespectful to have a fight where fans pay their money to see 2 PRO fighters fight hard for 10-12 rounds and they show up looking like the God Damn Stay Puft Marshmellow Man

The difference is Arreola is an up and comer. McCline is nearly 40 and on the way down. Plus McCline has fought around 270 his entre career. Hes just a very large man.
