Default A new world title idea, could it work?

Now it seems to me that we all know that the main governing bodies suck and their belts mean jack shit.

As its the media companies that televise boxing that have all the real power why not let them sanction the world titles?

We could have the HBO and SWT belts instead of the WB's and IB's.

If I was a fighter I'd rather be the Microsoft or Apple world champ than the WBA Ordinary world champ so what is it that keeps these organisations in power?

Boxers should just refuse to deal with them, stop paying them any fees and instead set up their own belt sponsered by a company with enough clout to invest in boxing and turn it into a glamour sport again.

I know this can't happen and is probably the rantings of a man who does not know what he is talking about but thought I'd put it out there nonetheless.

how are the nuthuggers at HBO any better than Jose Souliman? I mean halfway through a fight, Jim Lampley is ready to charter a foreign country to whatever fighter they are hyping.

Another thing, I like the detachment of it really. I watch some of those cage fighitng deals at a friends house and all the fighters have to wear those trashy looking "fighter" shirts because a textile company owns the sanctioning body.....I mean that is pretty camp and would hate for boxing to get like that.

I dunno I'd love to hear Jim Lampley humbled and have to say 'and this round is brought to you courtesy of Bud Light, the world's most refreshing beer, the difference is drinkability'.

Maybe they could have Merchant plug a brand of whiskey or gin or Kellerman could recommend some great hair gel for men

We always talk about new belts and what not.

But the whole 4 belt situation is never gonna go away.

I think the real problem steems from fighters not unifying the title. they think they got one so then they move up.If one guy has 3 of the belts then we all know who the real champ is. the guy who put the work in to collect em.

Plus there is no better spectaple in boxing IMO than a unification.

I think fighters want to unify but then they get caught up in bullsh#t mandatories. The WBA heavyweight title is tied up for the next year with Chagaev and Ruiz challenging Valuev. And if you do not honor the mandatories then they strip you and hand it over to the next guy. Its ridiculous! The only way to rid of them is to buy out the organizations and close them down.

The problem is that sometimes other champions don't want to fight said fighter, and he has to wait 4 years to truly unify a division.

That's what i mean. some fighters just have no guts to get in there, ther happy to plod along with there mandatories calling themselves the world champ.

We cant just blame the wbc wbo wba and ibf for forcing the mandotaries on fighters and stripping them if they dont fight cos alot of the time it's the title holders themselves stopping the fights.

but i think the last thing we need is another body to come along and say "ok now were the real belt" just adds to the problem.
