I had Sexton a round up but he was out on his feet at times in the last round. Rogans eye was completely shut at the time of the stoppage but the stoppage was against the momentum of the fight which was in Rogans favour.
A Great fight though and Sexton boxed very well at times.
Rematch should definately happen.

Rematch should definately happen. | A cynic (IE me) might suggest that Sexton might have sneaked his way to a belt, taking advantage of an honest man. One shot after Sexton spat out that gumshield and Rogan would be looking forward to an European title shot.

Punch Power: 388 | | Rogan Vs Sexton +2296 What a sham the ref Dave paris should be ashamed of himself before that final round he said to Rogan in his corner i will give you this round then im stopping it. Rogan went out had Sexton out on his feet Sexton turned his back Rogan swung a punch at him and hit his shoulder Ref stopped action to warn Rogan but never warned Sexton for turning his back then Rogan gets him going again Sexton staggering back points at his gumshield he has spat out Ref stops action again giving Sexton a breather then Rogan hurts him again and Ref stops action again takes Rogan to Doctor to look at his eye and fight is stopped even though Ref said he would give him the round then stop it after if he hadn't won the fight. Rogan could have stopped Sexton but Ref saved him at every opportunity. Also the Ref warned Sexton loads about holding but he never started to take points just continued to warn also never warned Sexton for rubbing his head on Rogans swollen eye.

Punch Power: 66 | | Re: Rogan vs Sexton! I understand the stoppage, but he should have waited until at least the end of the round. I'm just repeating now but the ref was utter shite tonight, if he was a football ref in the Premiership he would be relegated to League 2 after that performance! Should be a rematch but I can't see it unfortunately. |

Punch Power: 544 | | Re: Rogan vs Sexton! +990 Something should be done about Dave Parris cuz he ruined the Barrera - Khan fight too. He cant keep making such stupid decisions. He should have waited until Sexton had recovered until he called the doc up
The bit where Sexton pointed to the canvas then hit Rogan, I dont think he can be blamed for. He was out on his feet and was entitled to keep punching cuz the ref again was too slow to get in there.
As for the fight- it was a good mix of styles. Rogan came out using more head movement . Had Sexton stunned in the 2nd. Sam started out boxing him for the next few rounds and I think he had Rogan hurt afew times. In the 7th He had Rogan badly hurt and Rogan seeemd to want out of there cuz his eye was hurting him and he was backing off but Sam is such a poor finisher that he didnt identify this and just crowded his work by leaning on Rogan letting him off the hook. Huge last ditch effort from Rogan in the 8th. Had it been refd differently we would have seen a different result but well done to Sam for coming through that crisis to emerge with a win.

Rogan Sexton was a right cock up. Got to say I was annoyed with Sexton for being such a coward, spitting his gum shield out and looking to the ref to stop the fight. If he was so hurt why didn't he just take a knee and try and recover?
Instead he just quit there and then and then somehow won the belt FFS!!
That's not Sexton's fault mind, Rogan's inexperience got the better of him. And he still had the decency to congratulate Sexton and be happy about it all after the fight.
The rematch will 100% happen

Sexton held on the inside right from the start and was wanrned but no points taken.
Both fighters gave it there all and you cant blame Sexton for doing what he can get away with coz its the refs job to enforce the rules.
Cant remember an example of worse refing in a British ring.(I dont have a good memory)

Punch Power: 1069 | | Re: Rogan vs Sexton! Rematch, rematch, rematch, rematch, rematch!!!!!!
Gutted by the fight,at first Rogan had the option to finish Sexon but stood there asking Sexton to trade punches back at him instaed of just going in and finishing, and then the incident with the gumshield too!Rogan's eye was really badly close.Im sure a rematch would be even a more better fight. The 8th round was a classic!!

Punch Power: 539 | | Re: Rogan vs Sexton! You can't take too much away from Sexton. He boxed very well and Rogan was a tool to stop fighting when he did. This was the best British Heavyweight fight for a while so lets hope Warren makes the rematch because the ending was too controversial and the fight was too good not to do it again. |

Punch Power: 1041 | | Re: Rogan vs Sexton! Has anyone read Sam Sexton's comments on the bbc website regarding this fight today? He at least had the common sense to look a bit sheepish in the post fight interview when he had Rogie sitting next to him, but I'm not sure Sexton's on the same planet as the rest of us!
"I felt in control all the way through the fight, I felt as though I was winning the rounds comfortably,"
"So he came out throwing everything, and we actually clashed heads, he caught me on top of my head and to be honest I saw stars."
In my mind, Rogan's eye had to lead to the fight being stopped, but to go out when Sexton has turned his back, refused to fight, and wasn't even looking at his opponent with his gumshield on the floor seconds earlier is the bugbear. That fight should have finished with Dave Parris waving his hands in front of Sexton, but the doctor when asked had no choice but to call it off. Didn't like Sexton's attitude beforehand, and I'm afraid I like it even less post fight. |

Punch Power: 1041 | | Re: Commonwealth title Sexton vs Rogan... "who has your bet" +947 Been looking forward to this one, Sexton's attitude after the last fight really got my goat, after the ref conspired to swindle Rogan out of the result when Sexton couldn't even lift his arms to protect himself.
Hopefully Rogan settles the score....big KO! |
