    Default Rafa Marquez

Haven't heard a peep about this, he is fighting an eliminator this weekend on the Gonzalez/Nioshoka undercard.
His opponent is a typical kill or be killed Colombian fighter, not sure how the WBC justifies this match as an eliminator Rafa has been out of action for well over a year and hasn't won since Vazquez/Marquez I (more than 2 years ago). His opponents last three fights read L, L, D, he hasn't won since 2006 and is 37 years old.

This sounds like a good match to bring Marquez back to test the waters, see if his punch resistance and reactions haven't evaporated after the intense wars he had with Vazquez. I just don't think this merits being an eliminator fight.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Going out on a limb and I'm gonna say Rafa get's TKO'd.
I just don't think he'll be the same Rafa pre-Izzy.

I hope he proves me wrong but I've got a gut feeling he wont.
If he does manage to beat this caliber of fighter I don't think
he can get past the top guys like JML or Caballero he def. wont
    beat Izzy.

    Default Rafael Marquez

Rafael Marquez is fighting this weekend. He hasn't faught since last march. He's fighting someone called Jose Francisco Mendoza from Columbia.

What sort of shape do you think he will be in with over a year out?
Hopefully it will be a warm up fight for Marquez Vasquez IV

Sorry. I've just seen another thread exactly the same.

Can one of the mod's please delete this.

I think there are question marks over Marquez and Vazquez. I can't see either guy being the same again after those three fights and then the inactivity.

God forbid anyone think differently right?

I can completely be wrong here.
I know your a Rafa fan and so am I.
Going into the 1st fight and prior to that I've always rooted for the Marquez bros. after being ringside for 2 of the 3 fights I became a fan of both and my comment above applies to both guys.
I don't think either guy will be able to stand up to the likes of JML or Caballero.

Now again it could be just me who by being there I am making things a bigger deal then what they seemed and then more so after watching the fights on tv later. I just had this feeling after being there ringside for the 3rd fight that neither guy would be around for the top fighters cause they both did a lot of fucken damage to eachother.

I saw Izzy in El Monte not too long ago and his face especially the area where he had surgery looks really bad.

and as I originally stated I hope I get proven wrong because both guys deserve to earn a lot more cash the only way to do that is to stay on top.

Good heads up chief.Looks like they are looking to get him right back into the championship ranks presuming a win here.Personally Im happy that he and Izzy have steered away from a 4th scrap and hopefully we still have a chance to see them mix it up with others at the top.Cannot place guy brought in for him but the unknowns have proven dangerous, not exactly easy to size up and plan for in some cases....have learned to never sleep on oscure punchers from Columbia .Marquez is world class but any other fighter coming off of those 3 savage and mutally taxing wars he and Vasquez engaged in would be watched very close, you honestly cannot assume anything until that bell rings.

Marquez and Vasquez gave the fans what they wanted, the fans got what they wanted .... a fight to be remembered for all ages. At the expense of their health and future career. I don't think the two guys will be the same again. If what CutMeMick said is true regarding Vasquez, I don't think he will be fighting again.

I don't really know who Marquez is fighting next but it looks like some sort of tuneup/warmup fight. I think he wins it. But once Marquez gets in with another elite fighter, the damage inflicted from the Vasquez trilogy will be too obvious.

Been here for 4 yrs. I haven't lied about anything on here and I don't plan to start now on some rumor about Izzy.

I didn't intend for that statement to be taken like that, I didn't mean to offend anyone. I will be extra careful with semantics when posting from now on. English is not my first/primary language you know

I read recently that Izzy has had 3 surgeries to treat a detached retina suffered in the last fight and that his career was likely over. Really sad but it was a hell of a way to go out, they should release that showtime doc, The Trilogy in theaters.

Shouldn't be an eliminator but i'm glad he's coming back.

This, except i'm not into negging. Expecting him to be eased back with a comfortable win.

I think its totally about seeing if Rafa's legs are gone or not, they could be.

As far as Izzy goes I posted an article saying he's coming back at 126, that's according to him.
