    Default Ken Buchanan

I just watched his fight with Duran and although he lost he struck me as a very skilled, slick boxer. This was the first time I have ever seen him, how good was he?

Well apart from the fact he is called Ken not Henry

He was a great fighter some people put him as the best british fighter ever, id have him above Hatton as the better of the brits. But he was a class act. Top 4 best ever Brits id say without a doubt.

hey Fellas, I have attached a link for those who don't know anyting about Ken, he has recently been down on his luck , which to be honest has been down to his alchohol abuse and lifestyle over the years.

BBC SPORT | Boxing | Buchanan considers return at 63

Another sad tale, I posted a thread about a week or so ago about helping boxers when they retire and what can be done which got a poor response. Hoepfully those in charge of the game are working toward some solutions.

I realized that after I typed it. But I was tired and in bed at that point and didn't feel like getting up to change it. I don't know why Henry stuck in my head, is there someone famous named Henry Buchanan or something? I'll change it now.

Going by the fight with Duran, I'd say his boxing skills were far superior to anything Hatton possess, but they're completely different fighters so it's hard to compare them. I do think that if they fought, again just based on the Duran fight, Buchanan would probably come out on top.

Was he ever very vocal about the controversy surrounding the stoppage in the Duran fight? From what I saw, albeit via a bad camera angle with the ref partially in the way and grainy footage, it clearly appeared to be a low blow that Duran hit him with after the bell that caused the TKO stoppage. Was it just the rising popularity of Duran that made the commission etc. overlook the unfairness of the stoppage?

That is a sad story. Unfortunately, until there are national commissions and some kind of hypothetical pension system is establish, stories like that one are going to continue to be the norm in boxing.

For Roberto Duran to say he was his toughest ever fight, he had to be pretty good Only Lennox Lewis, Jimmy Wilde and Joe Calzaghe have a claim to be above him in the all time British p4p list imo

Ken also beat Jim Watt and he earned the respect of the yanks because he fought over there quite a lot. Sad to her about his current situation.
