Everyone wants a shot at Manny Pacquiao but promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank told the The Philippine Star - that nobody will be in the running until after this weekend. Arum says the process of selecting Manny's next opponent will begin to heat up after June 13, the day Miguel Cotto faces Joshua Clottey at New York's Madison Square Garden. Pacquiao will be sitting at ringside.

“It will all depend on Manny. It depends on what he wants,” said Arum. “After June 13, we will get to it seriously. I won’t come up with any name until after June 13."

As far as the venue, Arum is almost sure Pacquiao's next fight will land at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Top Rank has received offers to host Pacquiao's next fight from venues all over the world.
“I’m pretty sure it will be MGM," Arum said. “It’s a good place because of all the casinos there."

We will be waiting for a good and capable fighter that will challenge Manny Pacquiao. He is so great.

I'm even guessing that PAC might wait until July 18 to see if the winner of PBF-JMM is interested in fighting him...

It sounds to me like Pac is primarily interested in JMM or PBF, which is commendable, but that Arum is more concerned with keeping it in the Top Rank family and matching him up against Cotto (presuming he beats Clottey). Greedy fucker (Arum that is).

Tho I prefer PAC to face the winner of PBF-JMM, a PAC-Cotto (provided he get past Clottey this weekend) fight is also a mega fight IMO... PAC-Cotto could be dubbed "The Battle of Asia and America" (referring to the continent of origin)...

I would prefer Pac or JMM just so we don't have to get caught up in all this catch weight nonsense but I agree Arum would like Pac-Cotto, obviously whoever wins is a bigger star, a Pac loss wouldn't even be the end of the world as they could just spin it as Cotto was too big. A cotto loss wouldn't be great for Arum but he'd rather Cotto lose in house (like he did vs Margo) than to somebody else.

Yeah, keep it within the family... Clottey-Cotto, PAC-Cotto, PAC-Margacheato, Margacheato-Cotto (rematch), Clottey-Margacheato (rematch) and many more... In-house fights are good if it's a good match-up and kept to the minimum...
