Punch Power: 236 | | royal marines +3447 ok, so basically ive been working as an electrician for about 6 years, its a steady job, moneys good and all that but im bored with my life at the min. i feel like im just stuck in a rut the same old boring routine, go to work come home fukk the misses go to sleep wake up do the same again blah blah blah.anyways ive been thinking about a career in the royal marine commandos. i no its hard to get into as well theres like a 70% drop out rate the basic training is about 30 weeks or so. i consider myself very fit.so it shouldnt be a problem. what im asking anyone is if they have any insight into the kind of training they put u thru and the life of bein in the the marines if i did get in id be paid less than what i get now but im willing to do that, just for more of an exciting life |

Punch Power: 1002 | | Re: royal marines +2729 well it's up to you.
Some time back I thought of joining up - for the exercise but then I considered what an idiotic idea it would be, not only from the point I would potentially have to kill some for no other reason that the government tells me to but they may kill me.
I don't trust the government so why the hell would I want to be an instrument of the state?
How about the TA or Fire Brigade? |

Royal Marines Home | thanks for the vid mate. yeah my trade has been hit hard bud, all the trades have, sorry to hear about ya getting laid off hope things sort themselves out. im still managing at the min. my reason for wanting to go in is more personal than financial tho, i feel like if i get in id be proving something to myself, as for the killing people. i would probably take more of a backseat role something to do with electrics or something, well see tho, ill give myself a month or two to make up my mind |

Punch Power: 1325 | | Re: royal marines +2936 So lets get this straight you have a steady job, moneys good and shag the misses regularly and you want to swap all that for busting your balls training, get paid less, risk loosing your life or limbs on the say so of Gordon Brown/Obama. Makes perfect sense. If you do not appreciate what you have you certainly will after that experience.

Punch Power: 824 | | Re: royal marines I thought about doing this last year when I finished uni, you should 'declare your interest', as this means they give you info about the job & what entails. They will then get you take a test (well they got me to) showing your aptitude. I did this in a Navy test, and I got the Royal Marines, which I thought maybe indicated that I'm some kind of merciless killer
The training is tough, although my boxing gave me a headstart fitness wise, however in the end I just kind of thought I don't really want to go kill people in Iraq who've done nothing to me. The reason I was interested was not because of needing a job or I was bored, more that I felt quite strongly about the War of Terror & felt that I should go to Iraq or Afghanistan to understand it better. Then I sobered up |

Punch Power: 327 | | Re: royal marines Can't speak to the Royal Marines, but as an infantryman I can't stress enough that it is not simply a job change but if you are to be successful its a complete lifestyle change. Military life forms you to its mold. If you can't learn to live within the mold your time of service will not be enjoyable. All that aside even a Royal Marine could talk till he was blue in the face, w/o going through the experience you won't really understand what it entails.
