Thread: Heavyweight division

Now that there will be a supermiddleweight box-off. Would this make a huge change in the heavyweight division. Say you take the likes of
Eddie Chambers
Alexander Povetkin
David Haye
Ruslan Chagaev
Sultan Ibragimov
Chris Arreola
and throw them all into a tournament would this wake up the heavyweight division? In my mind this would be great and do wonder's for the heavyweight division sure some have been beaten all by Klitschko or soon to be. What do you think.

it would help bring a little excitement but the klits are not exciting the only thing exciting about wlad is the fact he is chinny

Yeah Wlad is chinny, might be a problem if someone was able to hit him

I think it would be good to get the cream of the heavyweight crop to do this sort of thing, but yes ultimately Wlad or Vitali beat whoever is out there.

It would be interesting to see who all would win in a tournament like this though....I doubt David Haye would make it very far

Very true... but nobody was saying it was a massive flaw/problem... just that it's one of the few things that provide any excitement from him.

First thing I would do is take Shagaev, Chambers and Ibragimov out. I could not watch a Ibragimov or Shagaev rematch with either of the Klitschkos. Nor a Povetkin vs Chambers rematch. If anyone suffers from insomnia I think I have found a miracle cure.

I would keep both Klitschkos in the tournament. Also Haye, Arreola and Povetkin (basically people who have not been beaten by the Klitschkos).
The last space would have to be someone from the cruiserweight devision as everone else in heavyweight are not even worth a try. If I was being sensible I would probably put in someone like AdameK. However if it was my choice I would put Marco Huk in there. He always makes for an interesting fight.

ok then take out Ibragimov and put in Johnson. It still would be an exciting event.

I think every division would benefit from a tournament like the SMW is having.

heavyweights need it more than any other division

Vitaly has given many exciting finishes.....Guys can barely lay a glove on Wlad...He dominates the so called best HW contenders in the world with a jab for goodness sake.....He has had 2 fights go the disatnce in the last 11.....what is he supposed to do sing and dance for you as well

It's just a shame they are brothers. It would be a great fight, or at least one that would have the world talking about boxing again. I would go for Vitali to KO Wlad though personally!
