Default Mayweather's PPV numbers are looking good

Word on the street (Yahoo and ESPN) says that Mayweather Marquez sold close to ONE MILLION PPVs. Numbers will be final soon. That is a HUGE success for Floyd and HBO, especially with so many sports on TV and a UFC PPV going on. Boxing isn't anywhere NEAR dead, so MMA haters please shut your mouths. Honestly, I was thinking "ehhh, 500K" but this proves that Floyd is a PPV attraction. There is no more question. When the dude says he's "Money" he's got the proof. He basically sold this PPV off of his name. Marquez's following helped out but Pac-MArquez 2 only did like 500K. Mayweather is finally signed, sealed, and delivered as a true PPV superstar. I thought the PPV would do well because of the buzz amongst everyone but not that well. You haters can't say anything about the man. He's proved the money part, now he's just gotta fight and beat Pac or Mosley (I think both fights will happen honestly) to become the greatest fighter of our generation (if he isn't already).

WHAT?!?! Man, Mayweather probably made an extra 10 million off of the PPV upside percentage if that's the case. A 10 Million guarantee for Floyd meant that GBP probably only thought the fight would do 500-700K. Hell, Marquez probably doubled his 3.25 Mil check. Congrats to Mayweather, Marquez, HBO, GBP, and BOXING!!!

Wow, at the start people were doubting the fight would sell... Those are some great numbers. Now just imagine what a Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight would be worth

Yeah, and the Marquez fight was a fight that everyone thought he'd definitely win. Imagine when the media machine pushes Mayweather-PacMan. They'll annoint Manny as Floyd's biggest threat and the public will really perceive the fight as a tossup (personally, I think Floyd wins a decent UD). Manny is the perfect hero, Floyd is the PERFECT villian. Manny is the P4P #1, Floyd is the "real" P4P #1. Manny destroyed Floyd's opponents after Floyd just beat them. The styles will make for a good action fight because Manny is relentless but not big enough to cause Floyd to be way too defensive. Good action fight. The two biggest stars in the sport. Man, I've got a hard on just thinking about this fight. Arum!!! DON'T F*CK THIS UP PLEASE!!! I just see it will be a ruthless PPV percentage battle. If Arum thinks Manny deserves 50% after this, he's crazy. It should be 60-40 or 55-45 Mayweather and let's get this thing on. It will be a great fight and I think could do more than ODLH-Floyd. The best part about these Mayweather-Marquez numbers is that while GBP is celebrating a success, ODLH probably has a bruised ego that Floyd really was the money guy hahahaha.

As one of the two people who voted for the "One Million!" option in this thread, I'm happy to see my impression looks (thus far) accurate.

I had a feeling this fight would do well, based on the simple fact that people know who Floyd Mayweather is. People I've never talked to about boxing are talking about Floyd Mayweather. When he did 2.4 million buys with Oscar, everyone passed it off as Oscar being the big draw, and that's no doubt the case, but still -- that means 2.4 million people saw Floyd fight that night, and know who he is and what he's about.

Media experts who like to slag Floyd's marketability for not being an "action fighter" who gets bloodied up every time out, seem not to realize that there might well be a market for a confident, good-looking, super-gifted athlete who dominates his sport.

You know, like Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, David Beckham. Floyd has studied the playbooks of these people and is attempting to execute it. He's made some mistakes along the way but safe to say that if these PPV numbers are correct then he knows a hell of a lot more about what he's doing than people like Dan Rafael and Doug Fischer.

I am a huge Mayweather fan, but I would be skeptical, I mean MGM wasn't even full this weekend. It was pretty full, but I would guess up top there were hundreds of seats that weren't being used.

Yeah. Honestly, I don't really have a huge desire to wanna go to a Mayweather fight. But I know that when he fights, I'll throw up 60 for the HD feed anytime. Honestly, the post fight interview was worth it.

    Max being a dick.
    Floyd looking uncomfortable.
Shane tryna desperately get a fight still
B-Hop being loud and saying "Ali was the best to ever do it" to Floyd hahahaha.
The entourages holding everyone back when it got kinda rowdy.
TRIPLE H ALL OF A SUDDEN stepping in behind Floyd like he was ready to Pedigree someone hahahahahahahaha.
Floyd saying "Imma do the talking, cause you do too much talking" to Max.

This is the definition of must see TV.

Pacquiao will never be as popular to the general public as Mayweather because he doesn't speak English very well, is awkward, looks funny, is a nice guy who doesn't talk shit and is Asian. I can't think of one Asian male since Bruce Lee who is considered cool or even masculine in pop culture. Jackie Chan is popular but is seen more as a talented jester. Mayweather is what every kid wants to be at that moment. He's black, lives the hip hop lifestyle, is metrosexual, talks shit, has alot of money and loves to show it, is involved in drive by shootings. He's "gangstah". The only thing he doesn't seem to do is parade around with a bunch of fine ass bitches. I guess this is to project an image that he is still attainable to females. He's a very shrewd business man. Even if you hate him you still watch to see if he'll get knocked out and he makes sure that will never happen. In Australia we've got a guy who seems to have modelled the whole business side of his career on this guy while trying to be a very, very poor man's Roy Jones. His name's Anthony Mundine. I hate that cunt.

so much for Pac being the bigger draw, IMO PPV numbers tell more bout the fight, than how fast the fight sells out, cause you have no idea how many of those seats are bought by the promotional company to begin with

This would be an excellent thing for boxing but I have some doubts, I don’t know how much reliable are those sources, let wait until it will be officially announced… even then we can’t be sure this is truth.
