hatton as 100% natural at 140, cotto outgrew it..

Shame hatton couldnt carry up to 147 because thats where most of the top fighters ended up..

Punch for punch I think Cotto would have made a mess of overly hyped and easy to find Bojado.Grab a mop .Cotto was prone to fall into shootouts but cant see Bojado coming through it.

Bojodo could be tricked into a brawl but he had decent pop. Also he wasn't that easy to find especially after he got with Mayweather Sr. I do feel as though Cotto would have. Bojado seem to to fold when things got slightly tough. He had an excellent chance to show his skills on HBO against a former world champ in Leija but failed to perform. He then disapeared for like 3-4 years and then comes back and loses to forbes

It's easy to say now that the fight would have been crap but at the time these two were hot prospects in a hot 140 pound division. There were also guys like Vivian Harris and Ricky Hatton.

I was a HUGE Bojado fight.
Saw him from ringside on several occasions.

I'll never forget the brutal and one of my fav. KO's he had over William Adamyan...
Just brutal uppercut that makes William fall like a rag doll.

I was on Hype Van riding shotgun with a slurpee on my hand and Thomas Guide on my lap.

Bojado went from the next great thing to the list of what could have been.

I think the kid was given WAAAY to much money too quick.
If I'm not mistaken about 6 fights into his career I saw him driving like a mad man in LA in a grey Benz.
    Just flying down a street...
Then talks of him partying late nights and having to be dragged out of clubs to go home to rest.

I remember a young guy called Cutmesomeslack CutmeMick being accused of similar loose living.

I imagine being based in Vegas makes that kind of scenario much easier than if you're based in Little Rock or Youngstown etc.

Thank you. Finaly someone who remembers Bojado without putting current facts into the situation. Back in 2002 even with his first lost to Rubio people didn't know he would turn out to be such a bust. He showed potential and when he started working with Mayweather Sr he stop relying on his punch.

In fairness,no one is bagging on Bojado.A very tv friendly fighter and nice enough kid who had too much put on his plate too soon.Hindsights is 20/20 and what happened happened, cannot avoid factoring that into the equation. Its easy to come out of the gate with a hot up & comers who swing first and think boxing second, networks love it and so do fans but alot of them dont tread water when time comes to make adjustments.Adjustments and gears they should have been implementing from day one.You could see it in Bojado.I just think the difference between Cotto and Bojado as all around polished prospects,at that time, level of early comp was pretty clear. Both hard chargers and compliment to the sport, exciting, but some make it and some do not.You can usually get a good idea when adversity comes knocking.

Yeah I wasn't bagging on Panchito
Its just that he lost in 2002 & was rebuilding

Maybe 2001 I could have entertained thoughts of a future clash

I mean for fucks sake Bojados pro debut was on Showtime...
Not even ODHL's debut was on a major network.

great post spicolli. It's like every time Bojado had a chance show himself on a larger stage him couldn't perform. His fight against Leija is a clear example of this.
