Punch Power: 2017 | | Re: Smith v Quigley tonight It's not bad for a SKY FFN.. in fact I think it's better than most, and considering this was originally the chief undercard that's not bad going.
My dough's on Quigley.

Punch Power: 1040 | | Re: Smith v Quigley tonight Great fight there I thought, not exactly vintage boxing fare, but two guys who went at it for 36 minutes.
Ultimately, I thought the SD was probably how it was going to end, but I was favouring Quigley by a couple. Smith didn't exactly fulfill his potential there, showing barely none of his boxing skills, being swarmed and out-machoed by Quigley. And the announcement at the final bell....there will be a rematch!
The usual what-you-like SD showed the difference there really, and thought Quigley gave more and threw more for the majority of the fight, but Smith clearly finished stronger winning the last couple. At least Quigley gets another shot at it, and if he can really work on the stamina so he can compete like he does for the full 12, I reckon he can take back the title. Entertaining brawl, but it was never going to be for the purists!

Smith did finish strong though, strong enough to make me think it's gonna be very close on the cards. |

Punch Power: 64 | | Re: Smith v Quigley tonight This was a terrible fight. I think the British Board of Control should have just taken the belt back man. Ha. I think if Quigley had spent less time in training doing MMA grappling he could have had Smith out of there, and Quigley also needs some better conditioning.... |

Punch Power: 70 | | Re: Smith v Quigley tonight I'll make that 4-0 in favour of Quigley then. I had it 116-113 Quigley. I definitely didnt feel Smith did enough to deserve a victory, he did bugger all until the last 2 rounds but I wouldnt have disputed a draw. |

Punch Power: 453 | | Re: Smith v Quigley tonight +1036 Paul Smith should be renamed the Audley Harrison, the amount of shits that has come out of his mouth recently.
Levels above Quigley he said after the interview last night?? Levels? IMO he lost the fight, an ugly fight between to very average fighters. |

Punch Power: 1325 | | Re: Smith v Quigley tonight The fight was really poor, turned it off after 10 rounds. Absolute crap and poor standard. Smith looks overweight and Quigley was too passive.
James Degale looked a class fighter. I was well impressed.

I thought the cross-city tension put an edge on it, and thought Quigley did very well making it his kind of fight, but fading on the stretch was his downfall.
I'll happily watch it again, though I confess it was the fact it was so close, and seeing who could eke out the edge through the wrestling and the dirty tactics was a big part of the entertainment, not a boxing masterclass by a long way. | |
