"If you think that fighter will in, then that just shows how little you know about boxing"

I've heard it a BILLION times, and it is so f'n ridiculous..

I was just looking for where to get Pac/Cotto 24/7, and there are people saying Cotto will win, then another guy is like "If you think Cotto will win, then that shows how little you know about boxing"...

The same was said the other way in a different section "If you honestly think Pac can beat Cotto, you obviously know nothing about boxing"


It is THE SINGLE stupidist f'n thing to say ever... It only proves how little the person SAYING this actually knows about boxing...

It completely disregards the fact their are 1000's upon 1000's of fights in boxing history where a clear favourite did not win.. And it disregards the fact that people who have been involved in boxing for 50 years can't even pick for certain who will win...

F'n so angry having to read it.. Everyone seems to think they are a boxing expert because they watch a couple of fights more than the general public, then assume they know everything and if anyone thinks something different to them, they are obviously just these "moron general public people who have no idea"...

These f'n douches need to grow up and realise the more you know about f'n boxing, the more you realise anything can happen...

Anyone who is 100% certain like that and is prepared to call someone a f'n idiot for picking the other fighter, is a f'n idiot themselves..


I think the point is, the longer you are in boxing, the more fights you have tried to pick based on logic, intuition, feeling, knowledge, heart,,,,, and the more times you have been wrong and realised anything can happen and logic doesn't always predict fight. intuition doesn't always predict fights.. Knowledge or fighter history doesn't always predict fights...

OF COURSE though their are some fights and fighters where you are just sure... I was sure Mayweather would beat Marquez and would have literally been completely SHOCKED if he won... That's as far as i'd go but would not say someone knows nothing about boxing for saying Marquez would win... I would just asume they have looked at Marquez strengths and Mayweathers plan, and just tried to work that together into a Marquez win.. And you can picture it that way... It might be a bit hopeful, but does not make you a f'n idiot, or a boxing ignoramous....

Anyway, that's my rant done...

Think i'm just a bit wound up with pre fight tension... only about 21 hours away now!!

Yeah, those types of arguments are incredibly stupid and very childish. It shows a very narrow way of approaching a fight. All that "I'm picking fighter A and anyone who disagrees with me doesn't know anything" type thinking is total pap. A serious case of blinkered vision going on. Boxing is one of those sports where underdogs are able to turn the tables and do indeed beat the odds. We all get it wrong sometimes and there is no shame in that. All in all boxing "know it alls" are a sad bunch.
