    Default Haye - Hopkins

Now before you laugh, hear me out. it's not a fight that has crossed my mind until i read the Haye - valuev fight report in Boxing Monthly. Glyn Leach reckons the Klit brothers could be a red herring for a Hopkins - Haye fight in November 2010.

    Reasoning...
    • Fighting on 10th Nov would give B-Hop the chance to become the oldest Heavyweight champion in boxing history
    • Hopkins has previously spoken about fighting at heavyweight one day
    • It would be a true UK- US clash
    • Hopkins is already moving to Crusierweight.
    • Haye himswelf has only just moved up from Cruiserweight
I'm not sure what to kake of it. I mean Roy Jones did it, but he had tremendous reflexes and Ruiz was perfect for him. Haye doesn't seem like a good match-up for Hopkins.

What do you guys think? I think it's a bit far fetched but interesting non-the-less.

I cant see Hopkins making the fighting weight in peak form. And if it did happen think it would be a very bad night for him.

That fight would be very disappointing from a fan's standpoint because of certain mandatories for the WBA belt already and the goal of unifying the titles for the Klitschko's and anyone else with a title....for anyone even Hopkins to make this fight a priority is wrong. If Hopkins wanted to win a title at heavyweight I figure he would rather beat a Klitschko brother or at least have more than 1 belt on the line.

In the end Evander Holyfield still has a better shot at it

I made a thread on this a little while ago when I saw an article about it on some boxing site. As impressive as Hopkins is and has been, Haye would ruin him.

You are deluded, Haye would decapitate Hopkins.

Hopkins is no where busy enough nowadays and at heavy that is a bridge too far.

I am a big admirer of his but Hopkins stood a better chance against Maskaev but genetics say he is not a heavyweight and would lose against any decent heavy, and even Lyle would admit Haye is a decent heavy.

I think Hopkins is to clever prime for prime for Haye who still makes alot of mistakes, but the guy is 45 years old and will be facing a big quick puncher id be worried for him now but I would have my money on him firmly to beat Haye as late as 3 years ago.

i agree mate. yeah hopkins is getting old, but ive rit him off so many times before and he just keeps ramming that shit straight back down my throat. hopkins is a genius at work. hes the best at breaking down a fighter bit by bit, and then implementing his gameplan on his opponent. logic says haye is a fight too far, i just think hopkins experience could beat haye. im not saying for sure i think that will happen, but the guy is a mutherfukkin genius
