Default Dibella refuses to promote Taylor, says his health is at risk...

“I informed him, as I do all my contracted fighters, that my goal was to help his secure financial stability for his family, maximize his potential, and leave our unforgiving sport with his health intact.

It is my belief that the continuation of Jermain’s career as an active fighter places him at unnecessary risk. While he is undoubtedly capable of prevailing in future bouts, I cannot, in conscience, remain involved given my assessment of such risk." - Lou Dibella

    Very interesting.

This is very good news. I am glad to hear it. So where does this leave the tourney? Lucian Bute or Sakio Bika would be a nice replacement.

Taylor get's knocked out by the smallest guy in the tourney is not a good sign. Have to give Taylor credit for his heart though but his health is much more important and let's hope he understands this.

well done diabella. the man has just gone up a notch in my book. wont find many promoters saying that. not just that but taylor is still a marketable fighter with a good following, so diabella can still make money off him, but his heart is ruling his head. good stuff

My hat is off to DiBella, the guy really cares about his fighters....Shows not all promoters are money hungry trolls like many think..

First class move by Lou, especially knowing he could make another million or two off Taylor in the long run

Ward is a larger younger version of a BHOP. Taylor is not the same man he was when he faced BHOP either. This could get ugly. I don't know about the rest of you but Taylor will have his hands full for 12 whole rounds if he makes it that far. Ward might be the son of god but inside the ring he is more like the Devils stepson that boy don't play nice at all. Taylor beating Ward would be a major upset. I would some how like to root for Taylor but I can't. I just hope the dude don't get seriously hurt.

i agree with u on everthing mate. ward reminded me of a bhop against kessler, just with more speed and tenacity. yeah i cannot see past a ward victory in that one. taylor is still young but he been knocked out three times now, something aint right. the man must have made at least 15 mil from the sport, thats more than enough too retire on. i hope he does retire. would hate
too see him fight one too many fights and get hurt

Wow I've never seen a promoter do this before.

It's a shame for Taylor because he is pretty good, but he seems to be getting progressively worse with each knockout that accumulates. That last KO was horrible, but I think Taylor is right to continue and I hope he can put up a decent performance against Ward.

Taylor has been a sad story since his first loss to Pavlik. He was extremely promising as a young man but he often cut corners, didn't train well, and just didn't seem to 'want' to be champion as much as some of the other young, hungry fighters. I think, by the time he pulled his socks up, it was too late. Still, I'll be rooting for him (even though I consider myself a Ward fan too), I'd like to see the gifted, athletic, young fighter we all caught glimpses of in the past.

Not usually a fan of Dibella but much respect here.Have come to like Taylor...almost feel for him...dude has been wrecked last couple and has all the looks of a fighter on the verge of serious injury. His heart and desire intact but physically its just not there.Hope he gets out for good.

Good move by Dibella, you won't catch many promoters doing that kind of thing. I just hope Taylor has the sese to get out before he gets seriously hurt

Big respect for Dibella and his concern.

But still agree he has a right to continue, stamina was his problem in the first 2 KOs and I just feel that Abraham was stylistically all wrong for him, brutal fiunish though.

Ward is probably a big favourite, but I think Taylor has the tools to get an impact early and if he gains confidencs then who knows.

Still only 30ish so not like when most fighters go on too long, but prob if he is KOd devastatingly again might start agreeing with Lou.
