Which fights do you hope to see in 2010?
I'll breakdown mine by weightclass.
Heavyweight: Vitali vs. Haye - The press and hype are there, the titles are there, and the public interest is there. Too much momentum for this not to happen.
Cruiserweight: Adamek vs. Cunningham II - I appreciate Adamek testing the waters at heavyweight, but let's be honest he's way too small and not nearly elusive enough to beat either of the brothers Klit. I would to see what was a very close and exciting cruiserweight battle.
Light Heavyweight: B-Hop vs. Dawson - Does the king keep his crown or is it a time for a changing of the guard. Both guys bring something special to the table. This is a fight that truly should happen.
Super Middleweight: Bute vs. the winner of the Super 6. - I know the tournament should last well into 2011, but a boy can dream can't he? Bute will probably be left out in the cold at least until winter 2010 to get the scraps from the two eliminated fighters out of the round robin section.
Middleweight: Pavlik vs. Sturm - Gotta crown a true champ here. I am curious to see if Pavlik will be able to use his hands like he used to. If he can't put full force into his punches he will be pretty much useless in the ring.
Light Middleweight: Martinez vs. Williams II - Get it down to where the fight should have been, had Williams not been preparing for Pavlik.
Welterweight: Pacquiao vs. Mayweather - no need to explain any further.
Light Welterweight: Bradley vs. Khan - I think this would be an exciting fight, you can make a case for both winning this in a very big way.
Lightweight: Guzman vs. Valero - Yes Guzman looked like ass against Funeka, but without the crazy reach of Funeka the equation changes defensively for Guzman, who could still cause fits for the slugger that is Valero. Valero well we know the power he brings to the table.
Super Featherweight: Humberto Soto vs. Roman Martinez - Puerto Rico vs. Mexico a war for the ages, however you look at this it's going to be an exciting fight.
Featherweight: Gamboa vs. JML - which one was rushed more? Both guys now have big question marks about their chins, both guys try to set records for punch output, gotta love this matchup
Super Bantamweight: Caballero vs. Nishioka - Caballero has to be one of the most intimidating guys at this weight class, he's awkward as hell and has a ridiculous reach. Nishioka has some great attributes the most important if this fight happens is his straight as an arrow punching.
Bantamweight: Hasegawa vs. Moreno - A fight at the highest technical level, speed chess in the ring, a fight that with the right exposure could put a big spotlight on this overlooked gem of a weightclass.
Super Flyweight: Darchinyan vs. Cazares - Should be good action back and forth, be great to see who es mas macho.
Flyweight: Koki Kameda vs. Kaovichit - Kameda has phenomenal skill, but has not had the pull to fight a contender until this year when he showed his talent wasn't just against tomato cans when he schooled Naito. Kaovichit, may not be getting any favors from the judges, but he leaves it in the ring and brings a real challenge to the table.
Light Flyweight: Viloria vs. Segura - IF Viloria maintains his interest in the sport, which it looks like he has lately this is an exciting fight. Segura brings his awkward leaning/roll style against the excellent counter punching of Viloria.
Strawweight: Roman Gonzalez vs. Sithsamerchai - There are no bigger names than these two at straw, and with good reason the skill level these guys have shown lately puts them miles past their competition.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
