There is a video on Youtube somewhere of an interview with Roy Jones in a boxing ring where i believe he explains his side of the story. I realise it is just his side so not necessarily true. I'll find the video later if i have time.

I honestly believe prime RJJ would have hurt Benn pretty badly, but then again Benn had as good a chance as most.

Jones avoided Nigel because he knew Nige had an excellent chance of beating him. Jones did same thing with all the legit contenders

Nigel Benn had a punchers chance but 98 times out of a 100 Jones would have won prime for prime.

Lets not forget about Thomas Tate and Merqui Sosa who were both taken out in 2 rounds. And Benn's buddy Sugar Boy Malinga didn't fare much better.

I like Benn a lot. I have his career set. But he was made to order for Jones or Toney's great counter punching. Great heart and power though. Hell of an exciting fighter.

Nigel is one of my all time British favourites. If I go with my head I'd say Jones wins the fight by stoppage after 6 rounds.

In my heart though.... I keep thinking about the hammering he was taking from McClellan and still managed to come back. You can't teach that kind of heart. I'd love to think Jones had him hurt and followed in showboating with his hands down just as Nige fired a bone rattling right hook which put him to sleep.

I constantly go with my heart though and get it all wrong so Jones stoppage round 7

Benn V Toney would have been a war....

#1 McClellan allowed Benn back in that fight and #2 McClellan paid 0 attention to defense.

RJJ would have stomped out Benn, Eubank, Collins, and even Calzaghe had he decided to fight him earlier.

RJJ TOYED with top contenders and when he was serious he usually stopped the fight really early.

When speaking of Jones, Eubank himself says in his autobiography -

'would i have beaten him? highly unlikely. Would he have hurt me badly? Almost certainly. Would i have hurt him? Yes. But not as bad as he would have hurt me.'

He went on to say thats why he didn't fight Jones but explains that he didn't duck Jones as if Jones was the no1 contender he would have done his duty and fought him.
