Default Both of these guys legacies are trashed IMO, if they don't fight each other...

I'm a big Mayweather fan and also a Pacquiao fan. I was definitely rooting for Mayweather in the fight though. Look...if these two guys don't fight, both of their legacies will suffer irreparable damage.

    In Mayweather's case:
Mayweather is the ultimate boxer. He puts in the work in the gym and his knowledge of the game is second to none. He's a throwback boxer. He's my favorite fighter because of his undeniable skills and brash demeanor. NOBODY can deny that at 130 and 135, he fought the BEST fighters out there (with the exception of Casamayor). He proved himself as a guy who will take on anybody at those weights. But even I have to admit that as he's moved up to 140 and 147, he hasn't fought the best opposition out there. Possibly because he knows being undefeated keeps him making the huge paychecks because everyone will tune in to see him lose and keeps him able to talk so much shit. If there's one thing that Americans love, it's too HATE ultra-talented cocky athletes. But Mayweather needs to fight Pacquiao. When Margacheato was built up by the media, Mayweather ducked him (probably good considering he had hands of stone). Mayweather hasn't ducked Mosley but he needs to fight Mosley. I see no reason why Floyd couldn't have fought Cotto when he was undefeated. Manny Pacquiao is a little guy that has come up through weight with a punch but I've always thought Floyd could handle Pacquiao. I think that Floyd thinks that too but he wants to be sure Pacquiao is clean. That's fine and I agree with that stance but if Floyd doesn't fight Manny, it's simply one too many fighters that he hasn't fought for some reason or another. Too many fights that haven't been made. He'll be known more as a guy who avoided too many fighters in the higher weight classes than as a guy who was a savant, a natural, a defensive genius, and P4P great.

    In Pacquiao's case:
Manny is the ultimate fighter. He's a gymrat just like Floyd is and puts in a ton of work. He's a little fireball and one of the most exciting fighters, if not THE most exciting fighter in the history of boxing. That can not be taken away from him, steroids or not, the guy is a natural fighter. I never once thought "steroids" as he moved up through the weight classes. I just thought that he was always SO FAST that his speed was creating the power. When he blew through David Diaz, all the punches were coming from so many different angles it was creating power. I've sparred a bunch before and I know that the punches you don't see fucking hurt and surprise you. When he moved up and took on ODLH, ODLH was so weight drained and slow, he was just taller and had no chance against Manny's speed. The majority (including me) thought different but we were proved wrong. Speed kills. When he moved back down to fight Hatton, I thought Hatton was naturally too big. The problem was that Hatton came into the fight thinking that too, running in with his head up and thinking that he could match speed with Manny and he paid dearly for it. Against Cotto, I thought Manny would be out of his depth with a good boxer and a much bigger guy but Manny took shots from a real welterweight and smiled and then I knew it was over because Manny's too fast and Cotto was brawling. I knew from the Judah fight that Cotto would get caught clean all day by a southpaw. But a southpaw fireball like Manny would tear him up if he couldn't hurt Manny. Then the steroid claims started. Look, I really thought that Manny was clean and the speed was giving him an advantage but his insistence on not doing random blood testing will taint his legacy. This guy has moved up through the weight classes with no problem. Fine. But he doesn't want to take blood tests? He's guilty in the court of public opinion, no doubt. With all the shit that Americans have seen when it comes to PEDs, if there's smoke, there's always fire. Top Rank and Manny think that they can fool the American public with these charades but the average sports fan knows about blood testing and it's importance and we've known it for a decade now. They aren't fooling anyone. Manny's legacy will be tarnished here. Guaranteed.

Regardless of what either one says, these guys need each other. Floyd needs Manny to solidify his legacy as one of the best pure boxers of all-time. Manny needs Floyd to solidify his legacy as a true CLEAN P4P great. And we need them. We need the hype of a fight like this, the Super Bowl of boxing is been squandered by two thick-headed, selfish, and egotistical assholes and their respective teams. Boxing fans around the world deserve this, these guys owe it to themselves and to boxing. These guys need to fight now.

thing is this should be every REAL boxing fans reaction, you basically can weed out the fanboys when you hear "well so and so can make a huge pay day fighting anybody else", who gives a fuck this is the fight that needs to happen, not Pacquiao/Clottey, not Mayweather/Malignaggi, not any other fight, both guys are royal pussies
