I have just finshed reading a book called 'Inside the mind of BTK' its about the serial killer dennis radar who killed 10 people in Kansas between 1974 and 1991. BTK stood for bind torture kill . i gotta admit its a pretty disturbing book but i love reading books by the ex fbi author john douglas.so clever how they catch the killers & how luck seems to come into play very often.

anyway this thread is why do u think that america is the serial killer capital of the world?

yes we have had a few serial killers in britain but nothing close to the USA, i understand thta america has a population abt 5 times more but there has to be a reason for this?

I havent a clue. But Harold Shipman (There's a documentary on him tonight Discovery channel 10PM if you're interested), Fred and Rose West and the Moors Murderers are all just horrific. All British.

In relation to your question, I can only assume its based on Population. The more people, the greater chance of more serial killers. Weird one.

I think it might be that America is simply more capable of catching serial killers rather than there being all that many more serial killers in America.

The only logical answer when comapring 300 with 60 million people is population.

This has to be part of it. Murder/missing people get reported/investigated more in the west.

And then you have to take into account how "serial killer" sells.

this might sound strange, but when i watch forensics & all that crime stuff i only watch the american real life ones very rarely watch the british ones, might be that the british ones are more close to home but its probably more the way the american ones are made once again more glorified!

i read thatthere is 500 unsolved murders of bodies that have been dumped along highways in the US. they believe truck drivers having a life style that permits this and also provides them a way to conceal a body until they find a location to dump that they are comfortable with.

I cant find a reliable source of how many convicted serial killers there has been in USA history, but the estimate seems to be abt 500?

There are serial killers in India, guy who killed children and Russia, who ate his victims. USA are better researched that is all.

We havent got many but ours take the cake for sadistic shit they do.
Over in Sharlas area South Australia there is the religious bent. Gay serial killers. Child torturers.And the last was three guys who stole identites then placed all the bodies in barreles in an old bank vault.
One poor young fellow they lured to his death by saying they had a cheap computer he could buy.they got him put him in a empty bath naked took nearly two days to kill him slowly.The cunts put sparklers down the eye of his dick and sang happy birthday to him,the whole nine yards broke bits off him poor poor fukin kid he eventually just gave up and died they recon.

We got our fair share here too,we've had a number of local ones here in Melbourne going for women and kids 5 spearate killers in a ten year spate.
