Default Pacquiao v. Clottey PPV Numbers

We all know in total approximately 45,000 tickets were sold for this fight. The largest amount of tickets sold for a boxing event in recent memory. At the same time, Manny hasn't been a monstrous seller on PPV at least not at the Floyd level and the contestants in this fight aren't American. Indeed, Clottey is unknown to the public. How well will this fight sell on PPV?

Pac is a superstar now imo. Very least 700k I wouldn't be suprised if it did close to a million, but i voted 700-800k.

I should of read your post before casting my vote. I'm surprised that this fight has sold so well ticket wise. But still I feel that PPV wise this fight won't sell too well. There just seems to be a glaring lack of hype surrounding this fight.

I know there's that whole ''This fight is bullshit, Cotto has already beaten Clottey'' opinion but for me Clottey and Pacquiao both present one another with an intriguing & new challenge.

    And I repeat; 'challenge'.

I don't expect this fight to sell too well at all but if they do ratings for regular HBO, I'm pretty sure that when this fight is aired on free TV, the results will show a high number of views.

    Same here

when pac fought cotto not 5-6months back even in the uk pacmania was reaching our shores and manny pacquiao was genuinely someone you heard people talking about in your local pub. I asked a mate yesterday if he`d be coming down for the fight and he didnt even realise it was this weekend.

Most common boxing fans are too absored by may 1st and whats gonna go down that night, it is also a conceived misconception that joshua clottey is simply there to make up the numbers and that pac will steamroll his way to 51-3

Maybe I'm drinking a bit of the Pac kool aid. But I think this fight will do at least 800,000. This fight isn't relevant but Clottey is a formidable opponent. Plus, this fight and Mayweather/Mosley is a buildup for the possible mega fight Mayweather/Pacquiao. I think the boxing fans will see it and a decent percentage of the casual fans will follow the Pac train.

600-700 for me and I expect around 1 million for Mayweather-Moseley.

I'm with 600,000-700,000 as well. Pac's following will always buy the PPV no matter who he fights. I too know i few people who didn't realise the fight was going on this weekend either. Thats saying alot, considering these guys are more than the occasional boxing watcher. Like said earlier, everyone is waiting for the May 1 fight. I'm more interested to watch the Soto vs. Diaz fight on the undercard....still not buying it though.

i'd be shocked if this fight does a million buys, especially given the lack of talk about the ACTUAL FIGHT, everywhere i read it's more about the location of the fight rather than the fight itself

I consider myself a boxing fan, for sure more than the average person watching these fights. A guy at work asked me when Pac was fighting and didn't even realize it was this weekend till earlier in the week. The casual person I think won't even realize he is fighting.

That being said, I picked 600-700 thousand buys, if it breaks a million I will be left speechless. I am not even sure if it does 600-700 to be honest. I have also heard reports that there still are plenty of tickets left for the stadium so who knows.
McGirt recalling the minute break between the 9th round of the Ward fight "He said, 'Help me stand up and I'll finish the fight.'"

I think it will reach the 1 million mark. Pac is a superstar now and with the potential superfight with PBF looming I think Americans will want to see Pac in action! I voted 900,000-1 million.

Just under a million, and the live gate will be almost as big as some recent British fights.
