He looks heavy in the last shot but how can you not root for a guy with such heart and great fights in the past, I hope he shows well come fight night.

Legend, but he is no 147 fighter, he looks so bloated. It's a shame all these legends not able to let go. I cant believe he thinks he can win a world title at 147.
Probably because he wants to go out on a win, or he's thinking he can be the first Mexican fighter to win titles at 4 weightclasses. To be fair he should of been allowed to do both.
He didn't fight a bad fight vs David Diaz, considering he's no Lightweight. And considering how shot he looked vs Zahir Raheem, Manny Pacquiao. When he was in trouble vs David Diaz he come right back and floored him.
And he continued to do this throughout the bout, and i think he showed great heart. And he deserved the win by atleast 2 points, but the judges gave it too David Diaz. Because it was in his hometown.
Im sure Erik Morales would of retired after that, because he would of been the first Mexican fighter to win a world title at 4 weightclasses. Aswell as going out on a win in a FOTY candidate.
So blame the judges for Erik Morales not retiring.
I hope this does not turn out to be an embarrassment for Morales I would like to see him get this win and fade out....
agree i had it something like 7 rounds to 5 plus the KD for Morales, i thought that he had clearly won the fight and had it been in Vegas he would have been awarded the win with no controversy, i'm all for Morales getting back in shape but he shouldn't be competing at any level anymore
Morales is one of my all time favorite, I wish him all the best but at 147, it looks a bit too much to me, I hope with every single seconds that he'll prove me wrong but I feel like he either should have stayed retired or tried at a lower weight.

That's the way it is, not the way it ends
Where I have highlighted Ice says he think's he should be allowed to try and win a 4th title in 4 weightclasses. I disagreed with his statement that it was the judges fault he is carrying on, and he should be allowed to carry on, there is nothing wrong with him carrying on but it will end in tears. I just added to that there is no chance he wins a title at 147, which is his main objective of coming back to boxing so in reality a pointless exercise.

As a kid MAB was my favorite, but when i saw more of Erik Morales. They were equally my favorites of this decade easily. Erik Morales was in exciting fights after exciting fights, put him in with nearly anyone except the track star Zahir Raheem. And he'll always be in entertaining fights.
MAB Trilogy
Manny Pacquiao 1 and 2
Jesus Chavez
Guty Espadas Jr 1
Daniel Zaragoza
David Diaz
Paulie Ayala
In Jin-Chi
Wayne McCullough
Carlos Hernandez
John Lowey
Junior Jones
The list is just endless, there won't be Mexican greats like MAB, Erik Morales. For years to come, i know JMM is great but he like Morales, Barrera. Is pretty much at the end of his career.
I actually didn't say that mate, i meant Erik Morales thinks he can earn that achievement. Maybe i should of stated Erik Morales, instead of he. But whatever thats what i actually meant.
I actually don't agree with Erik Morales coming back, what im saying is. He probably feels cheated after the David Diaz fight, because he come so close and for the judges to rob him out of his glory, must of hurt his pride alot.
Which is why he probably feels the need to comeback, but no i don't agree with it. And retiring after a good showing vs David Diaz would be fine, but like so many great fighters he thinks he has one good showing left in him.
This seems kind of pathetic.
I don't know how Erik can justify in his own mind the soundness of a comeback.
He should have stayed retired with his legacy intact as one of the very best to lace it up in the world of boxing. He is one fighter I truly respect, and will definitely feel sadness if this purported journey ends badly.
That said, and if it is Morales' wish to go chase for that fourth title in as many different weight categories, by all means, he should.
The last word is his, and only he can look in the mirror and say that this venture is realistic. Good luck, Erik!
This is his first fight back and maybe if he wins he'll continue working to get down to JWW or even LW. I agree he will not win a WW title but a lightweight or JWW may be a possibility, at least those are my hopes if he continues on. I don't know if he struggled to get his weight to LW last time he fought or not but I'm rooting for his success.
Hall of Fame fighter either way.
