    Default Joan Guzman

Now he revenged the controversial 1st fight, vs Ali Funeka by fighting a very good fight. Despite the weight controversy, as i said in the other thread. Joan Guzman fought a much better fight end of.

Obviously he struggles making Lightweight, so how does Joan Guzman fit in the Jr Welterweight division ? with the division already stacked with upcoming young talent, with Joan Guzman entering the division it could get that much better, there's so many good fights for him.

    Whats your thoughts ?

Guzman didnt avenge anything, they didnt fight on a level playing field.....
Guzman is a wasted talent and doesnt have the discipline to compete against the top 140s.

He clearly lost the first fight, so a draw was a gift how is there any vengeance?

He doesn't, he didn't even make weight for Jr. Welter in this fight. He came in as a Welter. My opinion here that Guzman should not be sanctioned to fight below welter period. His missed weight by 9 pounds, that seems a fit punishment for that.

I know Guzman is overweight, but I can't see him doing that much damage to the bus

Instead of using this thread to get my anger across for him missing weight I'll stay on topic.

Against the other 140 pounders let's see.

There's Bradley, Malignaggi, Khan, Maidana, Nate Campbell, Ortiz.

I actually can see him fighting Nate Campbell as his first fight at 140, they are both people that were destined to fight each other anyway at 135 so I don't see why they can't fight at 140.

Of the people at 140 the only people I see Guzman really beating is Maidana and Campbell or Ortiz, strictly because he can outbox them.

One guy won one guy lost. Sucks guzman tries to squeeze in where he shouldn't be. With all the crappy catchweights as of late most of these fights aren't on a level playing field. Complain about it before the fight not after. If funeka would have won ( and it would have been nice to see since he was ripped the first fight) no one would be saying sh&%.

Man, I was a big fan of Guzman up until recently - He seems to have lost his love for the sport. WTF, coming in at 9lbs over?? He looked overweight the first time against Funeka anyway.

Not making weight is a bitch move - The lack of discipline shown makes me irate. He shouldn't be paid.
