Froch: I'll Quit Super Six if Abraham Fight is in Germany - Boxing News

As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, Arthur Abraham is confident the fight with Carl Froch, set for August 21, will head off to Germany. Froch says there is a pre-existing agreement to stage the fight in the UK, and if he's forced to fight Abraham in Germany, then he will quit Showtime's tournament, the Super Six Boxing Classic.

"I am adamant that the next fight, with Arthur Abraham, will be taking place in Britain. I won't be fighting in Germany, it's as simple as that," Froch told PA Sport. "It would mean me pulling out of the tournament if they forced me to fight in Berlin. So I want to get that straight from the start: it has already been agreed that I would fight at home, fight away and a fight back at home. It has been agreed with Ken Hershman at Showtime."

"So my fight with Abraham is in England or the fight is not happening and will make a mockery of the tournament. It's as simple as that."

Froch traveled to Denmark and lost a twelve round decision, and the WBC super middleweight title, on Saturday night to Mikkel Kessler. Now Froch is preparing to beat Abraham to secure a spot in the Super Six semi-finals.

"As the Super Six World Boxing Classic rolls on and gets more interesting, a win against Abraham puts me in the semi-final and then there is the final. I can still be undisputed champion in my next three fights, let's not forget that. This fight is going to make me stronger, better and more determined," Froch said.

If this is correct then he has to fight in England if not then if where the most money is, but come on as if Froch will quit, where the fuck would he go??

Fight Bute in Canada? What is the point in that there is to much reward for to Froch to quit, I think if there is no contract then this will end up in Germany as Abraham creates more money in Germany and lets have it right Fat Mick is a waste of space.

For someone who is confident about knocking someone out every time he steps in the ring, he really is making a fuss. Is he not confident he can knock Abraham out?

Can't blame him really. He'll get fuck all in Germany, but at the same time Abraham will get nothing in England.

Oh please let him fight Lucian Bute, i'd love to see Bilbo's reaction. When he totally destroys Carl Froch.

Exactly, he's got nowhere else to go if he leaves. Doubt Bute would got to Nottingham.

He'll quit ??!!! Lol !!! Take your overrated ass on then, don't even bother to stop and close the door on your way out. If the fight was in froch's own living room abraham would beat his ass anyway. I don't know about overseas but here in america nobody will miss him, most didn't even know he was in the tourny anyway. I'll quit...lol !!!! This guy is starting to sound like one of my kids....i'm sick i don't wanna fight, it's not where i want it i don't wanna fight. My car is scratched i don't wanna fight, I could've taken him out, i shoulda, coulda, woulda, whaaa whaaaaa. Give me a freakin break. You sure didn't mind taking advantage of a green direll in england in a fight most think he lost anyway. I'm growing tired of this guy already

AA brings the crowd and the money but Froch will get screwed in Germany.

Did you catch the last Showtime fight camp? Where his car was getting vandalized and he said it must be Calzaghe fans ha ha ha...I know he was kidding but it was actually funny...

Froch comes off as a tool on TV but IMO he is probably a decent guy the kind you would call to hang with watch football etc...I really don't think he is as arrogant as they make him out to be,...Though at press confrences I have been to with him he is a tool....But after the conference to talk with him he is a gentleman hard guy to figure out

Sounds like he's not taking defeat too well. He can't quit, he's got a contract with Showtime. If he does quit he'll have to pay them back what he made for his first two SS fights and possibly a bit more. And then what's going to happen? Bute isn't going to come to Nottingham even if they could make that fight (highly unlikely, don't think HBO want their boy fighting a SS reject) so Froch would be fighting away from home anyway. And if he couldn't fight Bute he'll have to fight some nontitle fights until the SS is over and he isn't getting any younger. Plus the post-bandwagon Froch crowd to see him fight B level guys like Bika isn't going to pay much and will make nothing from TV. So he's stuck with the SS.

The only ray of sunshine I heard was on Five Live in the car this afternoon, I just switched the radio on and somebody was saying something like "the word in Demark is that Sauerland will agree to a neutral venue to keep Froch in the tournament" but that was the end of the segment. Did anybody hear the full thing?

Sauerland have the financial muscle and they have the pull with Showtime compared to Fat Mick. They've got two guys in the tournament and a stable full of top prospects while FM has last legs Froch and nothing else. If they do go to a neutral venue it means some crappy American casino ballroom like Froch-Taylor. Compare that with 20 000 Germans at the O2 Berlin and no promoter is going to give that up so I just can't see a neutral venue when Showtime have Froch by the balls via his contract.

I was briefly liking Froch after Saturday, but thankfully he's reverted to being the giant knob he is. Thanks Carl. You prick.

I know. It annoys me how he's been willing to fight in other guys backyards. It annoys me how 3 of his last 4 fights have been Fight of the Year candidates. It annoys me how his last 4 opponents have been top quality. I wish he'd fuck off. Boxing doesn't need this.

I don't blame him. Why should it be in Germany?

They should prepare a neutral venue if both fighters can't agree on the location. Every fight has gone the home fighters way and Froch knows he's out if anything goes wrong. In Germany he will be docked points, especially if he tries to make it a rough fight. Anywhere borderline low and AA will be holding his belly and warnings will be dished out. Fighting there will be a risk for Froch and going on that iffy scorecard against Kessler (117-111) I don't blame Froch for fearing the worst.
