The best possible match ups never happening for whatever reasons.
For every bad thing I can name 10 good and vice versa....Boxing is no worse then any other sport...IMO the real biggest problem is noone seems to care about legacy anymore...Sure great to fight for money I mean why else get your ass beat win or lose on a regular basis but I remember when fighters wanted to be immortal today just paid....It takes away from quality of bouts at times
The fact that, years ago, being "Heavyweight Champion of the World" used to be one of the greatest sporting achievements you could achieve.
Now, no one gives a f*ck.
It's lilke Tyson said in his documentary last year, he used to go Russia, Japan, Germany, anywhere he went, and get mobbed.
Can't see the same thing happening nowadays.
I know it sounds petty but first thing is, get rid of the freakin bow ties...start dressing the refs like u.f.c. refs...The second thing is to reduce to one sanctioning body that makes sure fights happen. Take the freakin egos out of the equation.
Disagree with this. The bow ties and boxing go together likes peas and carrots.
First it will be 'dress the refs like UFC' then it'll be 'let's allow the odd kick like UFC' then we have a coalition of 'boxing-ufc' and then...
Ok, maybe I am getting a little carried away but bow ties are just as important as the boxers imo.
- The number of fighters that are seen as superstars, future champs, or "most feared fighter" just because they are volume punchers or abnormally large for their weight but are good at working the scales.
- The number of guys that lack personality and confidence but try to talk big when a mic is in front of them.
- Announcers that try to act like they are running the show ; making up stuff on the fly; "Bang bang bangs"; color commentators treating hall of fame trainers like ignorant spectators and post fight interviewers that try to pull the mic away when they are not getting the answers they want.
- stupid extra belts and other sanctioning fee ploys by the alphabet orgs.
- young fighters mismanaged and rushed too fast in an effort to capitalize off a name or marketing only to have their career destroyed.
-"Keep it in the family" dads and other relatives that want to train their kids but don't know crap about boxing. Fighters that keep mediocre trainers because they are yes men and don't push them too hard.
-Acting, whining, crying, hurling yourself to the mat or out of the ring, and then playing the victim. Old fighters that don't want to up their output, cut off the ring or make their opponent fight... but love to say stuff after the fight like.. "i hurt him.. and then my knee locked and he ran from me.."
- Networks not showing the ring card girls between rounds. Especially during boring fights.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

The main thing is that boxing hasn't a true Governing body like say football has in FIFA or Rugby Union has in IRB.
They have tiers of control underneath in term's of continents and country's but are the overall governing body.
At the last count boxing had 33 governing bodies claiming to represent the World.
The original ones that had power made a mess that led to others forming organisations.
I doubt it can ever be sorted out fully, we have to hope that the main governing bodies sort themselves out and the others fall to the way side. Though the historic WBA and WBC keep messing up with 'interim', 'silver' champions: Aslong as they do then nothing will change for the better.
Things like fighters age limits, pensions etc can't be global until we have a global organisation rather than 33!
one belt per weight
half the amount of weight catogories for fk sake some are like 4lbs different or something stupid
lets get our british fighters on terestrial tv somehow make them huge stars
Burn a couple of belts
Put a gag ball to Lampley
Cast Bob Arum, Don King, Bob Lee Singer, Sulaiman on a desert island
Forbid boxers to use twitter (especially Khan)
Forbid any stupid references as having god in your corner
Then, you have a brand new world with fresh air.

What's bad about boxing is how dirty fighting is rewarded. Case in point the Roy Jones Jr Bernard Hopkins rematch. Very few give credit to what Roy Jones did in that fight. People actually praise Bernard Hopkins for headbutting, rabbit punching, and low blowing his way to victory.
What's also bad about boxing is how people don't appreciate fights between guys in their old age. People should appreciate what Hopkins and Roy Jones gave in the ring last month, regardless of who you think won or whether they should fight again.
Can someone please reference a more entertaining, dramatic fight between two guys in their 40's than what we saw in the Roy Jones Hopkins fight last month?
Give these guys some credit, even if they are past their prime.
