I was reading this earlier today. This is a joke. Don King has signed Kotelnik apparently. This is just King pulling out some Arum In-House promotions kind of shit. Not havin it. Kotelnik is VERY ordinary and this is a huge step back for Alexander IMO.

I would say this is a step back for him but not a huge one, its a safe bet and win win for Don.

I agree, definitely a step back, i would of liked him to fight another of the top guys at 140. When Don King's involved this type of stuff happens.

Kotelnik is basically a workout for someone like Devon that is all not the worst fight sort of keep busy fight against a guy we no wont lie down and is a tough mother fucker, I think Devon should get solid 12 rounds in hopefully then gets one of the big boys of the division next.

I dont see this fight as a step back at all. Kotelnik knows the score and is an expereinced fighter and will definatly give Alexander 12 rounds. That is something which a fighter like Alexander needs and hes still young and learning the game. There could have been a lot of other names thrown to Alexander that could have been a lot worse! I think he just needs to get some good wins under his belt and then he can push fights with Khan and Bradley. I think its a bit too soon to throw all of these big names at 140 to fight each other just yet. Give it another year and then i want to see these names fighting each other

    Khan - Bradley

    Bradley - Alexander

    Alexander - Khan

and I want to see Ortiz and Katsidis get involved with these fighters too!!!

easy win for Alexander and actually expect him to stop Kotelnik, sucks that basically Bradley/Maidana crumbled and that Bradley is back on track to take on Abregu (spelling?), but this fight really proves nothing

I'm on the same page as you Tam, I think Kotelnik is a very solid fighter & although not amongst the elite he will come to fight! Alexander wins, but its not a fight he should take lightly...

Don't forget my boy Maidana in the 140 mix!!!

I definatly agree about Maidana in the mix too. He would give trouble to any fighter at 140, especially Amir Khan who still has to prove himself against a strong comeforward 140 fighter,.

I actually think this is an ok fight. He's a young lad, and he'll probably go 12 rounds.

It makes no sense to stick any of the up and coming lot in with eachother just yet. Let it brew for a year or so. Let them become better fighters and let them develop some sort of following. There's no point having Alexander - Bradley in a half empty arena, when they could wait a year or so and at least have a shot of selling out. Likewise Maidana - Khan or any other similar match-up.

The division is good, but it could be potentially great. Just keep Bradley, Alexander and Khan away from eachother for a while.

I agree with what your saying about building these matches into potential super-fights but we also don't want to miss out on them on account of upsets. There are plenty of fighters around the weight who 4 guys could be match with for another fight or two like Ortiz, Mabuza, Peterson, Casamayor & Guzman. But each one could be potentially dangerous...

Yeah i guess that's the challenge for promoters - finding an opponent who is credible, but poses little risk, just to keep their fighter ticking over til the big fight comes round. Golden Boy managed it with Khan - Malignaggi, and it looks like like Alexander has a similar opponent. Khan, Bradley and Alexander can all get it on in 2011/2012, after they've all had more exposure to the casual fans. That's where the money comes from.

I agree. Devon's speed and movement will be far to much for Kotelnik to handle but he will give Devon solid work. We can't expect everyone to embark on a Jermain Taylor type of schedule like he had from '05 to date.

Kotelnik will be a good keep busy, stay sharp fight.
