Default Mayorga v Sturm September 4th

Well, Mayorga is back in the boxing ring, his opponent is naturally bigger, its in Germany and he only has a month to get ready

On the plus side for Ricardo. Sturm isnt that great and only really jabs.

Sturm is a lot better than that, there were rumors of him wanting to take on Kermit Cintron

IMO Mayorga's punch resistance is pretty much gone, and i don't think he'd be able to take Cintron's shots, plus Mayorga's punches don't have the same power behind them at 154 and up that they did at 147, i'd pick Cintron to stop him late, in a pretty competitive fight, Angulo/Mayorga still would be an awesome fight IMO although i think Angulo would retire him

If Angulo cant make Cintron act like a sissy he wouldnt beat up on Mayorga

Mayorgas main problem since Spinks beat him has been desire. He didnt put the effort in to training. If he hadnt run out of steam so early against Trinidad, id have favoured him there too. He was doing very well until around the 5th and just stopped working as much.

Hopefully, Sturm fights at his reserved pace and allows Mayorga to get in to it and Mayorga lands something big and stops him because he wont be winning on points through his fitness and being in germany. That would give him some sharpness and fitness and when Margarito beats Pacquiao, Mayorga gets a fight there too and hamemrs Margarito

    Sure did lol

This is GREAT NEWS ! Mayorga back in BOXING !

Just sucks that he only has such a short time to prepare and once again is fighting high above his natural weight.

But as some people choose to forget, Javier Castillejo stopped Felix Sturm by TKO.

I'll repeat that again JAVIER CASTILLEJO.

So yes, Mayorga most certainly has a chance.

I'd love to see him stop Sturm and retire. Grab himself a MW belt.

    Viva Mayorga !!!

believe it or not, a Spinks rematch at 154 would be interesting, seeing that Spinks has slowed down and is hittable as seen against Latimore

Seeing as Spinks lost every round except maybe 3 in the first fight, I'd think Mayorga could still take him.

That was ROBBERY at its WORST.

And it changed Mayorga from World Champion to a "Special Attraction".

Hulk i like you bro but you gotta take those glasses off bro, when watching that fight. Cory Spinks outboxed Ricardo Mayorga for a majority of the fight. One knockdown should of been called against Cory Spinks, but thats it.

He still won by quite a wide margin by atleast 4 points. By constantly counter punching and making Ricardo Mayorga miss which made him frustrated, which in turn made him lose a point for hitting after the bell.

Cory Spinks may get hated on here, but he's pretty good boxer. And he has fought some good opposition.

As for this fight i don't know what kind of shape Ricardo Mayorga is in, but he's always dangerous. And Felix Sturm is a pretty light puncher, so who knows.

But i think the smart money is on Felix Sturm winning by UD, especially since its in Germany, no disrespect to the Germans. But you've gotta admit the foreign fighter never ever gets treated fairly there see Robin Reid.

    Sturm to face Lorenzo

The agreement between Felix Sturm and Giovanni Lorenzo was signed at 11:45AM today according to FIGOsport. So Sturm’s opponent for his WBA middleweight championship on September 4th in Cologne has been found. It has been also been confirmed that Sturm will trained for this fight by Fritz Sdunek.

    I strongly disagree.

Spinks began getting a series of gift decisions starting with the Mayorga fight.

Mayorga came to fight and made the fight and Spinks did absolutely NO DAMAGE.

It was a terrible fight becus one man came to defend his championship and the other came to run and hope to make it til the end, just as Spinks almost always does.

Spinks lost both times to Judah and clearly lost to Karmazin as well, and yet got gift decisions.

    Bollocks!!

The WBA didnt want to sanction it because of Mayorgas inactiviy and the fact he has no ranking at middleweight Fair enoughn but hopefully King can at least get him some action on the same show. Mayorga sells tickets!
