I'm think I read on here that fight's not happening due to cotto needing surgery and will be out till next year.
yea Cotto's apparently not fighting for the rest of the year, due to surgery he got on his shoulder
Cotto would destroy him and finsih him off with a left hook to the body.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Miguel Cotto's Operation Won't Affect Dec. 4 Bout With Julio Cesar Chavez -- Boxing FanHouse
I don't know what kind of operation on the shoulder it is but according to the article link above it will not affect the fight scheduled for December 4.
Cotto will be beat by the next guy that can stand in a ring with him for more than 5-6 rounds and not take big punches. Unfortunately that is probably what Freddie Roach knows as well for Cotto. Roach is going to be making a career out of beating fighters with multiple fighters....
I can just see Roach lining up Martyrosen for Cotto next.
"Floyd needs to inject Xylocaine into his balls to gain the courage to fight Pacquiao."
- and I quote from some random guy on the internet
You think so Jonny? Maybe it's because I'm a fan, but even being objective I see NO WAY Junior beats Cotto. Dude is way to raw and Cotto has been doing this his whole life. I know people want to see Chavez rushed but he hasn't been doing this his whole life, he should be able to take it slow and going from Duddy to Cotto is just a jump that he will pay for.
Chavez has been moving at a pace that is fine. He won't be ready for Cotto for another 2-3 years and if he fights now, maybe never. He should set his sights on Alvarez if he wants to open people's eye with a name. I don't think he wins that either but he would surely stand a better chance.
I think your analysis of experience and skill level is spot on. But looking at it from Chavez's and his team's perspective, I don't agree that he should wait, Why should he? Do you think he is afraid of loosing that zero? Stepping into the ring with Cotto is pushing it, but his 'career' could use that push because that is what he wants. To bring it to the next level. It has been said by many that his opponents are all hand picked. If he looses to Cotto, so what! He's lost to a great fighter. He can't damage his reputation, unless he get totally humiliated. I think that will happen because his trainer would advise him not to take the fight. If he looses a close fight, he'll gain loads of respect. He'll also gain some valuable experience all the way around and what better way to do that than in heat of battle in a big fight.
A new story is now reporting the Cotto fight is off and Chavez is headed to the Philippines.
Chavez fight with Cotto Called Off
I was wondering what happened to this fight, seemed to go a little quiet.
It'll be a great fight if it happens, another one of those massive fights that answers the questions we've all been wondering
