Thread: 4.12.2010 Chavez Jr - Gomez (was Wolak)

Looks like we are back to square one. This fight was originally scheduled for September, then the December Chavez-Cotto option surfaced, and now we have Chavez Jr - Wolak in December

Now it's looks like Chavez Jr will face Alfonso Gomez.

Gomez is the best test for him at this stage but I could have sworn that he was facing someone else, Gomez that is. Maybe I'm wrong. This is a good test though, Gomez is a solid tactician with good boxing skills, not really something Chavez has been faced with lately. He's being moved along at a good pace. Putting him in with Cotto would have been a career stopper. Wolak is to much of an unknown, and he has a good amateur pedigree.
