Nice fight winner of this fights the winner of Pascal v Hopkins I reckon.
Also Dawson has left his trainer looking for a new coach.

Adios Bad Chad!
Chad's a great boxer, but he's gonna get tore up against Cloud's work rate. I think BCD has got too comfortable in the ring, he has to know when being patient is a liablity (e.g. against Pascal) I don't think a new coach will be able to break him of that habit. On the flipside Cloud looked human against Johnson, and Dawson may be able to keep him off.
I expect Cloud to score a UD here as Dawson should be able to move enough to not get clocked clean, but too defensive to get a decision.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
Few months ago I would have said Dawson unanimous. No longer. Tough one but lean towards Cloud. Strength, volume with straight shots and a huge intangible I def don't see in Dawson now......Desire!
Cloud has some cracking power too. It's amazing what a few months does though. If i'd asked the question who would win between these two last christmas I think that 7 out of 10 would have gone for Dawson. Now I bet it's similar the other way round!
It will be the biggest test for Cloud so far though and it will also show whether or not Dawson has what it takes to bounce back like a real champ. I'm a little torn on this one but I was before the Pacal fight too. IMO Dawson might just know too much for Pascal if they were to rematch.
Another trainer ? Eddie M had nothing to do with that loss. Cloud threw punches dawson sat around. I do think dawson would beat him in a rematch..but i can see that pain in boxings ass b hop ruining the whole thing. Simply by outsmarting cloud.

Wow, did people miss what Cloud was doing against Johnson? Look at the second Dawson fight against Johnson. Dawson is still way faster and way more skilled than Johnson.
I think people are underrating Dawson, and underrating how clever Pascal's tactics were against Chad. It's much tougher to just throw punches than it's said, especially when a guy is moving out of range then exploding in like Jean did. In a kind of similar situation Mosley totally dwindled Margarito's punch output, look at what Bernard did to Pavlik's output. And that being said Chad still landed more punches than Jean at a higher %, and he almost ko'ed Jean before the cut. It was a very close fight that Chad could have won.
Yes I agree with this post. I think how close it was is what has surprised so many people. I think most expected Dawson to pretty much dominate against a guy that lets face it was beaten up of Carl Froch!
Completely agree with that post.
Also, Hopkins was reluctant to get in the ring with Dawson in the past, do you think if he beat Pascal, he would get in the ring with Dawson? Dawson is entitled to the rematch after they take one interim fight.
Nope I watched both fights twice and very closely. From a judges perspective Dawson, didn't look like he was doing enough to win most of the rounds, remember judges don't have punch stats. Now as for Pascal's tactics, I don't think they were particularly creative or hard to figure out, just back out to the ropes see if Dawson throws then jump out to the right and strike. rinse and repeat. When Dawson would throw combinations Pascal was comfortable enough to just wait them out and then go back to his tactics. Dawson had to be more aggressive than normal because Pascal wouldn't just walk in like all his other opponents AND it was in Pascal's backyard. If you are fighting in someone elses town you have to assume they will win any close rounds. This is all the reality of the situation.
As for Cloud he is still young and needs some work, but he is very strong and pushes the issue, without having a Glen Johnson type push back it's going to be tough for Dawson. He has to be more aggressive than he's used to and I just don't know if he is capable of mentally doing that.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
To be fair, I find guys who use Pascal's tactics a nightmare. They basically circle away from you for 75% of the round & then in that 25% just charge in & throw as many punches as possible, most of which don't end up landing, but the flurries stay in the judges mind.
I do think that Dawson beats Cloud, although it's a 50/50 fight for me & I'd take him to beat Pascal in a rematch. I think the stoppage on a cut was very convenient for Pascal because for the first time since he fought Mendoza, Dawson actually looked like he had some urgency.
I thought he had a rematch clause with Pascal? Now B-Hops gonna try and jump in there and headbutt Pascal when he lunges in, and throw a punch at the same time that looks like he k.o'd him with. I guess B-Hop gets priority, cuz he's so old, and cant wait that long? I like B-Hop but why does he get Pascal first? Pascal is basically tailor made for B-Hop, B-Hop will just wait all day for the lunge, and counter him with headbutts, lol.

Chad Dawson is solid on defense, but he lacks any kind of punch to keep a fighter using the high pressure style of Cloud off of him for 12 rounds. Chad has fast hands but little to no power and he's only really effective with his right hand, his left is useless it does nothing.
Tavoris Cloud will be on Chad from the first second and I highly doubt Chad can withstand that type of assault for the length of the fight. I think this fight will remind people a lot of early Miguel Cotto fights where he'd just simply bully and beat up his opponent until they could take no more...think Cotto-Branco or Cotto-Malinaggi. Dawson MIGHT make it to the final bell, he certainly moves well enough, but I'm thinking Cloud stops him circa 8.
