Default The Last Boxer You Spoke To

We follow them, discuss them, stay up all hours to watch them and pay money to PPV for them. But I'm just wondering how many of you speak to them?

So who was the last boxer you spoke to? What are they like? and what got said?

Was it a HOF great like Jones Jnr, or an up and coming star like Audley Harrison?

I'll start, the most recent was only the other day, I was chatting to Richard Towers (up and coming UK heavyweight prospect) Was chatting to him online about him being a sparring partner for Derek Chisora recently and how that went. Also chatted about how difficult he is finding it to get matched and has only had 2 fights all year as all opponents keep pulling out at the last minute.

Seemed a really sound guy and I was pretty grateful he took the time to have a chat with a fan like me. I know he's hardly David Haye starness, but still, up and coming stars sometimes have the mini success rush to their head and aren't humble enough to chat with fans.

Yeah mate, Rogie is a gentleman. He might be an entertainer in the ring, but he's a showman outside of it!

    Great thread.

The last boxer i spoke to was danny williams at Highbury(former Arsenal stadium).
It was a quick chat about how he was doing and what the scores were gonna be on the night.Couldnt keep him that long because he wanted to get to his seat and crowd's were gathering,But seemed a very humble guy.

Met Hatton twice. Once in an Irish Bar in Vegas a couple days after the Pac loss, last time a few months later in an Irish bar in Dusseldorf when I was there for the cancelled Haye Vs Klit fight.

Both times he was pissed and both times he was a bit rude, nothing too bad but you could tell he was pissed off with me for having to take pictures. I sypathised with him a little and just thought he must get pissed off with all the fans bothering him all the time. Then my mate said bollocks to that, he doesn't complain when we line his pockets with PPV money and follow him to Vegas - now 3 times in total!!

Good point well made I thought! You should always make time for your own fans.

Future first ballot hall of fame Thomas Hearns at his auction, just talking to him about the 57 chevy he had for auction, he said he had it all redone but at most he had some paint put on years ago and that was a bad job. The car had rust under the paint some broken glass bad interior and engine was painted while in the car with paint over spray on the hoses and wires.

Put simply he had no clue what was done or not done on the car and almost everything he had for auction was junk or really beat up and the car needed a complete restoration.

On a good note I could understand every word he said and he still dressed very well and looked to be in good shape and spirit despite his financial problems.
