actually just a few miles south of Philly they call it that... as for mma,i think a more squared approach would work better, you gotta defend shots

Not really sure what the stance is exactly but you do not want a pronounced lead foot in MMA. Makes you very susceptible to takedowns.

think how Mayweather fights and the Archie Moore crab defense...ya got the Philly shell. a shoulder roll is a roll, not a guard least round here...i use it a lot when i am not doing mma style sparring, or have little if any respect for the guy i'm facing or as a draw for them to quit backing up and come in and fight...
