Default If Dana White entered boxing what could he do for the sport?

OK I know the MMA word is a bad one to use among hardcore boxing fans but I have been giving this a LOT of thought.....Boxing has too many promoters and too many sanctioning bodies etc as we all know already....

The UFC has more PPV cards, free quality PPV worthy fight night cards,. TUF is a hot show with big time ratings.....Not too mention the fact they also put on the undercards for free to entice us....They do free shows for the troops etc...

The UFC has only 1 brand they worry about and do not try to compete with anyone else unlike boxing has let's say Arum....Arum and others like him put on shit bouts after shit bouts taking us for all fools....90% of the time we all end up bitching about the quality of cards or even under cards more then not turn out to be better then the main event....

What if White and the UFC entered boxing, signed fighters and put on cards the way they do in the UFC?....Then they made their own title?......I mean shit Pride, COG, WEC etc all inspire to be the UFC and UFC has boughten a few out....In fact fighters strive just to fight in the UFC let alone be a UFC champion....

1 out of every 8 UFC cards are just OK but almost NEVER suck....
(if you are an MMA fan I am speaking of because you hardly ever hear MMA fans bitching about the sports quality).....

UFC 126 PPV portion consisted of....John Jones Vs Ryan Bader, Forrest Griffith Vs Rich Franklin, Anderson Silva Vs Vetor Belfort....

That is boxings equal to.....Floyd Vs Manny, Cotto Vs Berto and JuanMa Vs Gamboa......

The President is an average Joe who does not sugar coat or bullshit, they have no sanctioning fees, the PPV cards are cheaper.....

In short they are business men in the UFC who know how to keep not only fans but fighters happy, have a legit champion because there is only ONE champion.....

I won't keep going on because I do not want to seem like I am a big MMA nut because boxing is the sport I love but personally I would love to see Dana White get involved in boxing.....

Anyone who knows about MMA look at the last 10 UFC PPV cards then look at boxings and there is no comparison......

IMO they would bury King, Arum, GBP, GSP, Warren ect in terms of quality and in terms of the way the champions they have are looked at....

Any thoughts or am I just crazy for thinking so?

The reason the UFC is dominate right now is because they have almost all the best fighters in the world under their promotion. The reason the top UFC fighter constantly fight each other is because the UFC keep all the money. The best fights in boxing don't get made simply because the top promoters don't want to take the chance there guy will lose. You’re guys loses his value goes down. Dana White is not some genius and in fact he seems to me to be a control freak who actual lacks a tonne of professionalism. If Golden Boy had all the top fighters they would fight each other every month because win or lose they’d still be holding the honey pot in the end.

You basiclly answered yes....There is nothing stopping promoters from boxing to do the same thing....

David Haye, Bernard Hopkins, Peter Quillen, Librado Andrade, Enrique Ornelas, James Kirkland, Sergio Mora, Saul Alverez, Paul Malignaggi, Vivian Harris, Lucas Matthyse, Rock Allen, Marcos Maidana, JMM, Robert Guerrero, Rocky Juarez, Jorge Linares, Ponce De Leon, Chris John, Jhonny Gonzalez, Abner Mares, are all GBP fighters and that is not even 70% of GBP fighters, add the fact that they have a shit load of undefeated prospects etc....So there are plenty of great fights to be made with-in GBP...They have THE MOST STACKED lightweight stable in all of boxing.....Hell most of the top LW fighters come out of GBP.....What is stopping them from making all those fights?....Better yet why are they not making the fights?

They rather spend 15 million in providing Hype as in the non stop press shit on Guerrero and JMM looking to gain interest in the bout then will rely on the draw of that one particular bout instead of just putting on a quality card....

You are telling me that Don King has professionalism?....He [puts on an act like he is senile and has no clue why he is even at the events and in his younger years was nothing more then a glorified Thug...He was the Suge Knight of boxing.....Name a fight promoter who is not a control freak?....name 1??

In the UFC you don't need to be the big draw to have them bother with you all you have to do is ytour job and they will take care of the rest....So in your opp Dana White is not doing anything special yet the UFC is thriving in popularity three times what boxing is and gains more popularity as time goes on...They can put out over twice boxings Pay Per views and keep an averge number base no matter who is on the card....Fighters are matched up evenly according to ability more often then not making the match ups better....They don't need to have a fighter go through a bunch of guys worth shit to build a resume for them to be thrust into ratings just to be blown out by fighting a champion they were not ready for....

So the question is once again....If Dana White and the UFC stepped into boxing and ran their promotion company like they do the UFC what would it do for boxing?......To say nothing because he is not genius or he has his fighters against each other etc is why they do so well why won't that work in boxing?

First of all, Dana White is gay.
Well, ok, maybe he is not gay. What I don't like about him is his arrogance which to me is the obvious reason why Fedor wouldn't fight for him.
I definitely wouldn't go as far as to claim that UFC has the best fighters in the world in every category.
What I like about him and the UFC is that they don't protect their fighters. They just make the fights happen. If Dana had Haye and Klitschkos signed he would just make them fight each other until both of the K's would get their "KO of the night bonuses". Then he would force the bros to fight each other . He would perhaps keep Haye for two more fights with able opponents, after which he would probably be fired.
And Mayweather wouldn't behave like arrogant pig either cause UFC paychecks are ridiculously low

Really never ....I am pretty sure over the years...Chuck Liddell fought Tito Ortiz, Randy Coture, Penn faced Pulver, Hughes, GSP. Lesner faced Carwin, Velazquez, Mir, Rua faced Michada, Evans faced Machida, Rampage, Rampage faced Griffin and so on...Everyone of them a top earner for the UFC....They have NOTHING to lose if their guy gets beat because he gets beat by another one of their guys so the money still stays in the UFC and the loser still stays a superstar...

Pay attention Mafia man.....And just for your info.....Manny and Floyd both fight who they want when they want and if Manny told Arum he wanted to fight Godzilla Arum would have zero say in it...The worst he could do is sue if he did not get his promotional cut.....Boxers at the level of Floyd, Manny, Klitschkos etc fight who they want when they want if they choose to......The promoters job is to make the bouts and fighters allow promoters to make bouts they feel is best because that is why they pay them....You are confusing elite with third tier fighters

White can be an asshole but then again as a promoter he is fairly decent...He just has that way about him...Yet he calls shit as he sees it and does not sugar coat shit like many promoters do....I prefer an asshole to a fraud anyday of the week....UFC pay checks are lower because the fighters make a good deal of money through sponsors and the UFC provides them with the coverage to give the fighters sponsors the airtime.....Shit in boxing some fighters are fined for promoting a sponsor ....But personal feelings about White etc really was not the point the point was the fact they thrive while boxing promoters fucking bottom feed off the fans...If the UFC was boxing rather then MMA they would already be the biggest promotional company in the world....

The best thing Dana White could do for boxing is to stay out of boxing. Imagine if he came over and tried paying fighters $10,000 or $20,000 for a fight. That would never work in boxing, it works in the UFC because thats all they have ever known. I dont need a boxing PPV #156, and then #157 the next weekend. That's what i love about boxing is that it's for people who really love the sport. I don't need a show to watch on TV to make me want to go out and want to buy a UFC shirt and hat so i can feel cool. I would like to see fighters stop paying these sanctioning fees for these meaningless belts, so that we can start getting rid of them.

Fair point of view and I understand the PPV#etc.....I was looking at it in the sense as you mentioned a guy like Dana White...Hell It does not even need to be Dana White just the business opp of the way UFC operates....Like I mentioned beofre the fighters have incentives, FOTN, KOOTN and so on that gives these guys an extra boost to go at it like they should...Like I said as well how many fights have we had that had completely shit cards and we bought inot the hype? 4/5? 3/5?.....When UFC in terms of MMA quality has shitty cards 1/8? maybs 2/8.......

All top boxers do not make the millions people think for every bout....Of course the salaries would be adjusted etc but that is knit pick stuff it is the over all picture I look at

He better be prepared to open his wallet like never before. Cuz there's no way he's getting a Juan Manuel Lopez or a Sergio Martinez for the amount his fighters make. Mayweather, Pacquiao and foreign fighters like Bute and Froch wouldn't give him the time of day unless he's talking millions.

Yha more PPV cards that shouldn't be PPV. Just squeezing the working man for every dollar until they catch on. And PPV are less money? Really? LOL What $10?

I don't get the sarcasm. UFC PPV's are doing as well if not better than boxing. It's only the mega fights with cross over appeal that do better for boxing. Certainly the live gates are doing better than boxing. They have done a great job of promoting UFC, the sport, and I look at it as being more violent than boxing. Yet it doesn't appear to get the bad rap that boxing has.

I don't the there is anyone who can do for boxing more than the fighters can. The only way the promoters can help boxing is by somehow getting the sanctioning bodies to come up with a single ranking system.

Exactly. The fighters have no one to blame but themselves. Even if they were only a fringe contender in boxing they could earn more than that. Im surprised MMA fighters dont try crossing over to boxing for the paydays. They could quite easily pad a record up to a dozen fights and build publicity for another boxing v mma type match.

The only way id see UFC doing boxing is if they did prizefighter type tournaments where you have an eventual winner of one weight. That would appeal to their foam handed audience more than a pure boxing match.

He better be prepared to open his wallet like never before. Cuz there's no way he's getting a Juan Manuel Lopez or a Sergio Martinez for the amount his fighters make. Mayweather, Pacquiao and foreign fighters like Bute and Froch wouldn't give him the time of day unless he's talking millions.
Of course the paydays would need be higher but guys you mentioned have been in the sport for years not all fighters make what they do not even close and that includes most of the other world champions.....Like I said it does not have to be White himself but the structure of the UFC....

OK lets say someone like White came over. There would no way he would be able to sign all the top guys, Mayweather, Pac, JMM, Cotto, Kahn, Bradley, Martinez, etc. etc. So that would mean we would never get a chance to see those guys outside of the "UFC" fight each other. At leat with boxing we have a chance to see it happen. Look at that Fedor emailianko guy, i hear a lot of people say he's the best. He will never get a chance to fight a guy from UFC because he's in a different fight league. I don't know much about the way UFC works, but i don't think they co-promote the way boxing does. We would never have a chance to see some of the top fights because not all guys would be under the same banner.

Understandable point...In truth if GBP did exactly what they said they were going to ONCE STARTED they could have been the saviour of boxing and they had a lot of guys hyped top sign with them but in the end they turned out to be just another promoter...Fals promises and bullshit
