Default NFL player wants to try boxing if there is a lockout

NFL player Ray Edwards wants to try boxing if there is an NFL lockout. The guy is 6'5" and 268 pounds. He trained a few times with Manny Steward.

....I would have thought Tommy Zibikowski would like to get back in the ring again. He was a decent prospect at one time.

He should stick to following the talks etc. Not some gimmick short term venture to kill time or pick up some extra coin. All the way in or all the way out.

Spicoli is absolutely right on this. Boxing is all in or you'll get get knocked all the way out...and it may even take his football career with it too. Obviously he wants to make a living off boxing so therefore he is expecting to face top contenders and a possible title shot. And this is where it will end badly for the lad. Boxing is a specialist sport. The guys he would be fighting have about a 20 years head start on him. No matter how weak the heavyweight division is or how special an athletic prototype very very very rarely will a guy start boxing at such a later age and be successful. I wish the guy would've been training at an earlier age on the side at least.

I was clicking around on Boxrec and saw Tommy Z is scheduled to fight on the Cotto-Mayorga undercard in Vegas. He hasn't fought since the Cotto-Malignaggi card in 06'.

I remember Chad Ochocinco was also talking about boxing and even called out Andre Berto on twitter
