    Default What next for Martinez?

Assuming Martinez eeks past his tough assignment this weekend against Dzinziruk, where is he going to go from here?

Is he going to keep taking high risk/low reward fights?

These are the guys he could possibly get in the ring with

    Middleweights:
Sturm(I just mentioned him because he's one of the best in the world but won't leave Germany)
    Geale(won't leave Australia)
    Pirog(not enough experience)
    Sylvester(won't leave Germany)
    Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam(who?)
Manfredo(doesn't deserve the shot and is past it if he was ever AT it)
JCC Jr.(won't be ready for this until he's closer to 100 fights )
Lee (good boxer- not better than Martinez)

    Jr Middles:
Cotto(Too small. Too many miles on him at this point)
    Angulo(A clinic waiting to happen)
Williams(A third fight? Could be interesting)
Cintron(He already beat him twice in one night )
    Margarito (Avenge his first lose?)

Where will Martinez go after this?

Martinez is on a mission to prove he's the best. So he's only gong to fight the best. And right now, Strum is the best he can get.
Williams and/or his people dont want it.
Cotto and Margarito is going to be fighting each other.
Angulo can get a fight with Alvarez if he wins and get a Visa.
Cintron? Do he want it? Doubt it!!!
Lee? A KO ready to happen
Jcc Jr? needs to fight more rank opponents.

Sturm would be a great choice. I could see a Martinez-Canelo early next year, that would sell pretty well i think.

I think Goldenboy is gonna protect the hell out of that kid after their "IT" guy Ortiz all but gave up against Maidana.

You're right, though. It'd sell a ton. With the amount Alvarez get's hit, Martinez would carve the poor kid's face up. He's not ready for that level yet.

Out of the options Sturm makes the most sense. It would be a middleweight unification fight and the biggest middleweight fight since Pavlik v. Taylor or Taylor v. Hopkins, not counting Dzinziruk v. Martinez, of course. Sturm sells in Germany, maybe Martinez could go there.

As someone said, Cotto is set to fight Margarito, but if that wasn't happening for some reason, and Cotto looks good this weekend, a fight with Cotto would be a big-time event, and I believe Martinez has earned that right. It doesn't bother me that Cotto looks a little past it because Martinez has had such a commendable list of recent opponents.

Of course, what if Lee looks good on the undercard this weekend beating McEwan? That would be an easy stay-busy fight although it doesn't do anything for me in terms of challenge.

Isn't funny that HBO will buy Zbik-Chavez Jr., but it wouldn't buy Zbik v. Martinez?

Any fight with Alvarez sells, but NO way they put him in with Martinez...EVER. he fought Matthew Hatton in his last fight. I mean, they are leagues and leagues apart.

Why not come in Germany and fight Felix Sturm?

It's true, I guess. It's just annoying when a guy won't leave his country. He lost to beat Delahoya and never came back.

Martinez could also go up to supermiddle, I think he is just trying to stay around middle to try and get a superfight against Floyd or Pac. He would only go to 154 probably, which would probably be real hard for him to make. If it wasnt then I would think the Dzinzurik fight would have been at that weight.

I agree with martinez sticking around middle for Pac and Floyd. But I can't see him going up to fight Ward. If he do that, F Pacman!!! F Floyd!!! Dude got heart. Not to mention, if he win.

Let's just say, Martinez don't get any of the big names, how would a fight against Andre Dirrell or Arthur Abraham look for Martinez?

An Abraham fight could materialize after he gets knocked out of the Super Six. He stated that these guys are just too big.

It's difficult to predict who will he fight but one thing for sure: I would definitely like to see a Martinez-Cotto bout, i think it could be a match up of great sparks!
