Thread: Whats the news on Andre Dirrell ?

Is he gonna fight again any time soon ?

According to his twitter he'll be fighting sometime in the summer, maybe July. He looks in good shape, he's out in Miami training with Haye

He made a terrible decision with his fake brain injury. After that 360 episode aired, he lost all credibility. I find it hard to believe either HBO or showtime, ever give him another date.

Direll shouldn't be.... but will be back. Margo went into the ring with weapons and got a title shot for it while coming off a huge loss. Kessler is ready all of the sudden to fight bute after speeding around denmark blind like jeff gordon yet without enough vision to dodge a punch. (nice to see him concered for his own health yet screw everyone else's on the road while he drives), roy jones gets demolished by green just to hit ppv in his next fight. Judah pretty much looses every major fight he's in yet is on tv every other month, shane mosley is destroyed by floyd only to have people say he's old, gunshy, over the hill get's a draw with freakin mora who brian vera had no problem with Yet all of the sudden he's the best opponet pac can find (i'm starting to think winning is not the way to get a shot at the best or so called) so on and so forth. Bottom line in this shady excuse ridden sport direll will be back and we'll all watch it. I heard direll has the cure for cancer in his saliva as well .

I think a Pavlik-Dirrell fight wouldn't be too bad.

Dirrell is lighting quick and a very good boxer. He was dominating Abraham til he got fouled, and I have my doubts that it was a lasting injury, but I have no doubt that Dirrell faked during the fight.

Pavlik would def have a lot of trouble finding Dirrell, he's "The Matrix".

IMO - the next big fight he needs to take is a fight with Andre Ward to prove that the injury wasn't just a duck move.

I'd take a guess at it and say unless he still has some sort of contractual obligations to deal with for Showtime he won't be on their broadcast for a while. Defo pulled a fast one on them from my point of view. He'll more than likely get picked up by HBO though I'd say, being American and talented and all.

I actually thought he was gonna be fantastic, but he needs to pull some grind out of his arse soon to start repairing those thoughts in peoples minds again. He bitched all fight vs Froch and flaked out IMO against AA when the shit was hittin the fan in the championship rounds. He's got some hard work to do.

I think the general opinion is that he faked the subsequent brain injury; not necessarily getting hurt by the foul.

Nah, a lot of people on here think he faked it from start to finish. I think he was hurt by the shot in the fight and really couldn't continue without feeling seriously disadvantaged. Brain injury talk probably came about as he tried to overstate the injury so that people wouldn't think he was just trying to get out of the fight. He has definitely generated some strong bitter feelings that usually are reserved for boxers people don't like but manage to achieve more than those fans would like to think they are capable of.
