Default What Does Mosely HAVE to do? Take a page from Ezzard's Book!

I think he HAS to be able to tie up Pacquiao. If Pacquiao can simply step in and step out at will, it will be a short, painful night for Mosely. If Shane can stifle that in-and-out crap, he has a chance to interrupt Pac's rhythm. Once that rhythm gets going, there isn't much Shane can do.

Mosely IMO has to tie up Pac whenever Pac tries to zoom in with the 1-2. If he tries to only counter the shots, he will have a tough time of it and after 3 rounds he will be quite exhausted.

Mosely also has to be able to manhandle his opponent. He cannot allow Pac to push him all over the ring.

I think Shane's best chance is that he HAS to tie up Pacquiao AND ALSO manhandle/rough up Pac. These 2 things will frustrate Pac and interrupt his rhythm. Mosely has to take a page out of Ezzard Charles' or Archie Moore's book on this one.

AS UGLY AS IT SOUNDS, HE HAS TO HIT ON THE BREAKS. PUSH HIM BACK LIKE FOREMAN USED TO DO AND THEN TAKE SOME POT SHOTS before he can get set. Then clinch him/tie him up all over again. Repeat. etc.

What does Mosley need to do? Ask Victor Conte to create fountain of youth pills to get his body back to the one that first fought Oscar in 2000 that's what.

How many times have we seen fighters get knocked out while attempting to clinch?

I think this grab strategy only works against fighters without much of the the volume punch in their arsenal. In this case, the guy across is Pac though', IMHO, Mosley clinching will be the less effective option than to simply countering Pacquiao with quick salvos, considering Shane is no slouch in the hand speed department either!

Hatton found out that clinching while buzzed against Manny only left him an easier target for the multiple punch barrages.

I don't know... just my two cent ramble, but I don't see Shane incorporating or employing clinching to his game plan as he did against Margarito will result with the same level of success, for this time, the strategy seemingly has disaster written all over it.

One thing i have noticed, is manny complete sucks on the inside, he's punch have no effect, and when he is on the ropes he is helpless

He countered well on the ropes vs Margarito, plus his feet are so fast. You can't just walk in and clinch him, plus his handspeed is so fast and his power is very underrated, you'd probably get knocked out trying to do so.

The the way to beat him is not actually the way you think, trying to over power him and bully him doesn't work. Making him come to you and counter punch so he's off balance aka Morales 1, JMM.

Fighters who come towards him never do well, the only one i see adapt that tactic well was Agapito Sanchez.

But that was early in Manny Pacquiao's career, plus Agapito Sanchez was such a dirty/rough fighter.

I disagree with everyone here. The way to beat Pac is to swim a lot in your training routine. Swimming gives you a whole body workout. And swimming makes you hard.

Mosley gotta get some tips from Michael Phelps and teach him his swimming techniques. That's the only way Mosley stands a chance.

Hahaha... I think the General is being funny at the expense of Ice, but a closer look tells you the later does have a valid point.

Counter to death from the backfoot earned JMM immortality after his closely contested dates with the PacMan, so why not Sugar Shane? With so much the quicker and better punching power.... Mosley has a great chance. Doesn't he?

Of course, Phelps with the gold medal resume, affords an excellent, albeit strenuous back-up plan.

All Mosley has to do is beat the crap out of Manny while the later is sitting down on the stool in between rounds.
