    Default JMM Bulking Up?

According to Ring Magazine Juan Manuel Marquez will put on weight with the help of a physician for the Manny P. fight.

    WHY?

Juan you should have learned from the Floyd debacle that you can't handle additional bulk. You should also be smart enough to know that Manny is only 3-4 pounds bigger on fight nights now that he was when you last met him at 130. The last time you fought Manny? He weighed 145 on fight night. So here's what you should be doing.

Train the way you normally do AND DON'T DEHYDRATE FOR THE WEIGH-IN! For your last fight you weighed in at fight time at 145 after weighing in the day before at 134.

Manny in his last fight weighed 148 in the ring after weighing in at 145. The two of you remain more or less the same size at fight time. The results of day before weigh-ins mean crap.

In other words, in terms of the only weight that really matters? You'll be within 3-4 pounds without changing anything. DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING EXCEPT DON'T DEHYDRATE!

I couldn't agree more Marble. He does not add weight well, just don't rehydrate and he will be fine, come in around 144. I don't understand why he is doing this

Sharp thinking. I agree. I was confused when I first heard that Marquez will be bulking up because I think that's a big mistake. Fight is contracted at 144 but he doesn't have to come in at that weight. He's better off at somewhere around 138 and keep his speed/form intact. He shoul stay close to 135 as possible and maintain his lightweight form. Pac's size advantage isn't a big factor in this fight.

The fact that there will be little disparity in weight come fight night is one of the reasons I wasn't critical of this fight being scheduled at 145. I thought that regardless of the contractual weight they'd come into the ring a few pounds apart and it would simply be a case of Marquez not having to dehydrate himself. JMM doesn't need to bulk up, I don't really see why they feel he does when it seems so simple for him to just train as normal and not boil down to LW. Or am I missing something as nutrition and weight management isn't an area I know much about

Don't try to be something your not Champeeen, a bulked up banger with one-two stopping power. Says more about his mentality going in then gameplan, not good.
