    Default Staying Awake

What is the longest you have stayed awake for and why did you do it?

Stayed up for Saturday nights boxing which started at 7pm, I woke up at 7am and stayed awake until the B Hopkins v Dawson debacle 5.30am. that is over 22 hours being awake. Shattered but oddly enough had a good nights sleep, probably will feel it later in the week.

When you are fighting for your life then I guess that would motivate you to stay awake. That is why you value and appreciate life so much.

I attempted 48 hours when I was younger. Had done 24 hours on more than one occasion.

Started tripping by the end, kept hearing people call my name.

Which also reminds me, I think, although I'm not sure, I've stayed awake longer than two days while chemically induced during my more wild days

Excellent topic. 22 hours is def quite a spell for sure. I'd be pretty trashed. How I hate that feeling. I actually went 32 hours back in 1984 at college trying to finish a paper. 8am Day 1 until 4pm Day 2. The last few hours of wakefulness was like some kind of religious epiphany---all the colors and sounds around me were very strange and intensified like a mushroom trip or something. I sank into a deep feverish kind of sleep the minute I laid down. Think I slept about 11 hours, waking up about 330 am next day.

Drugs do not count for staying awake.

About 48 hours is my maximum, but chemically strung out. Without that I have had plenty of sleepless nights though, sleeping isn't one of my strong points.

I really regiment myself so that I minimise excessive 'staying awake'. I force myself to go to bed before 10:30pm on worknights. Even if there is an hour of sleeplessness I am at least comforted in knowing there is no pressure to sleep. Sometimes I just can't drop off though and occasionally it can be a night with the bare minimum of sleep. You feel like shit the next day.

I would much prefer it if there were more than 24 hours in a day. 30 would be ideal for someone like me.

My sleeping is terrible. I regulary go 30 hours and have gone over 40 a couple times this year.

I'm still up from yesterday midday now so 22 hours

Don't know why, but I have sleep anxiety. I literally cannot stay in bed sometimes, it's torturous for me. That's why I'm usually posting here at all hours.

Tablets don't help as they can't make me sleep at night, I still lay awake for hours but when I do I then sleep for over 15 hours and wake up in late evening and the cycle carries on.

I'm just staying up now so that I hopefully fall asleep this evening. Trouble is if I'm once it gets dark I won't sleep tonight either, I somehow stop being tired and can't get into bed.

The longest for me was well over 50 hours..

regular exercise in a vigorous way such as jogging 35 minutes a day can really bring the zonking sleep upon you that night. also if you cant exercise I read you can do meditaton for about 40 minutes before sleepng, and if you can sink deep enough into a state where you are not meandering through thoughts but just empty-minded, it is quite healthy and can substitute for a couple hours of sleep.

I normally have restless nights but the 22 hours staying awake has done wonders this week, slept really well. Will not do the same this week for the fight but will watch the repeat in the evening. probably will do the same for the Margarito v Cotto fight in December.

While "staying awake" I once chewed my finger nails so bad I chewed the nail and the ends of all my fingers. Actually bit the tips of my fingers off, had blood everywhere in the morning.

Not one of my smartest momments!
