Default Mayweather Vs Ortiz Supposedly 1.2 mill Buys

    http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id...e-million-buys

I was reading Dan Raphael's blog on espn and he says reason why no announcement has been made is because Golden Boy hasn't given HBO permission because they need Floyds permission.

Floyd is in the process of settling some IRS debt, when it's reached an official announcement is expected somewhere in the 1.2 mill range..

That's a pretty good turnout, proves Floyd is indeed still the money man in the division.

Forget division, how about the whole sport.

Raphael also posted on twitter his question to Schaefer on the BCD Bhop fight, not good he says. Expect 100,000 or less

Is that the official Mayweather-Ortiz PPV buys? I read something different but then it has a question mark at the end.

    Mayweather-Ortiz only 850,000 PPV buys?

    Here's another interesting read.

ha I meant the sport, not sure why I put division lol

It's really bizarre to me that so few fans are interested in Hopkins Dawson. Number 1 against number 2 for the undisputed title. Surely it means something. Stellar undercard too. Shame.

But whatever Floyd earns is what he gets, whereas Pac uses most of that money in the Philippines which means his earnings will have to be multiplied by 43 to get the country's currency. So the buying power of what Pac gets is greater.

haha.. true that.. He's living like a king over there. With that said, I'll be shocked if Pacman ever turns broke.

Honestly, I don't know why anyone would by $50 to watch 2 hours of boxing.

Unless HBO and GBP revealss what the real numbers are, I wont give a damn on these reports.

But one thing is I know for sure, the numbers didnt hit the expectations of both HBO and GBP which is why they are keeping it for now. If its acceptable to them, they would have announced it with lots of drama and fireworks, well knowing GBP.

    Not correct Dench,

PBF is hashing out his IRS business and Settlements.

HBO contractually need GBP which in turn contractually need Floyds OK to release the numbers.

If the IRS found out he did a over a million buys on a PPV they aren't going to be to kind to him on an easy payment plan.

Dawson has never been a seller, he can't even pack 5000 people in Connecticut where he does come from. Not sure why though as he's a very skilled fighter and is not totally without charisma.

The guy is 2 towns up from me and their is no mention at all about him on the news etc..

No Billboards, no commercials.. Connecticut has no mainstream pro sports. if he had marketability and fanfare he would do well around here.

The kid has the personality of a sweaty gym sock so I think thats what buffaloes him in the popularity contest

I don't think the IRS cares whether Mayweather's fight with Ortiz will come up with more or less than a million PPV buys. Because Floyd will still have to pay the same amount that he owes them. The IRS has not been kind to the middle or lower class, why would they be kind to him who they very well know had earned millions? Those PPV buys will matter to them next year.

Dench opinion appears reasonable. That's what I was also thinking of.
